Neptunus wins second game vs. Kinheim
Nederlands
HAARLEM (Neth.) - Curaçao Neptunus won 8-5 at Corendon Kinheim on Saturday-afternoon (April 25).

Trailing 8-1, Kinheim rallied for four runs in the ninth inning, but the comeback was too late. Rien Vernooij and Shaldimar Daantji homered for Neptunus, while Dashenko Ricardo and Jasper Keijzer homered for Kinheim.

(April 25)

After leaving two runners in the first inning, Neptunus opened the score this afternoon with one (unearned) run in the second at bat. With one out, Urving Kemp walked, then was safe when a throwing error followed on a force play-grounder by Adrian Anthony. A following single by Shaldimar Daantji then gave Neptunus the lead.

Two runs were added in the fourth inning. Rien Vernooij led off with a single off of starter Nick Veltkamp and advanced on a sac-bunt by Urving Kemp. With two outs, Shaldimar Daantji homered to make it 3-0. Daantji hit his last regular season-homerun on May 30, 2013 against The Hawks.

Kinheim got its first opportunity to do something back off of starter Diegomar Markwell in the fourth inning. Mervin Gario then led off with a double and Dashenko Ricardo reached on an error, but they both stranded.

The home team then scored its first run in the fifth when Jasper Keijzer homered with one out. For Keijzer, who played for HCAW in the previous four seasons, this was his first big league-homerun.

In the seventh inning, Neptunus took more distance, scoring four runs. After Christian Diaz had led off with a single, Nick Veltkamp was relieved by Scott Ronnenbergh. The lefthander gave up a bunt-single to Benjamin Dille, followed by an RBI-single by Raily Legito. The bases got loaded when Gianison Boekhoudt walked. The next run was scored on a sac-fly by Dwayne Kemp, then Legito was forced out on a grounder by Rien Vernooij. A walk for Urving Kemp re-loaded the bases. Hereafter, Ronnenbergh also walked Adrian Anthony and Shalimar Daantji, which resulted into two more runs and a pitching change.

Neptunus made it an 8-1 score in the ninth when Rien Vernooij homered with one out.

In the bottom of the ninth, Kinheim rallied for four runs, but its comeback was too late. Kevin Kelly became the new pitcher for Neptunus and he walked Jasper Keijzer with one out, then gave up a single to Jochem Koedijk. With two outs, both scored on a double by Mervin Gario, then Dashenko Ricardo followed with a 2-run homerun. But a pop-fly then ended the game.
