HCAW initially took a 2-0 lead in the first at bat off of starter Dennis Burgersdijk, but faced a 4-2 deficit after the second inning.

In the top of the first, Marciano Philippi led off with a walk, but was forced out on a grounder by Roelie Henrique. The latter then stole second base and scored the first run on a following single by Vince Rooi. Next batter Kevin Weijgertse walked, then a possible double play-grounder by Rossing Frolijk followed. Weijgertse was forced out, but Frolijk reached first base safely on a following throwing error, which enabled Rooi to score the second run.

Amsterdam struck with four runs in the second at bat off of starter Jim Ploeger. Lead-off hitter Remco Draijer reached on an error, then advanced to third on a single by Rashid Gerard and scored on a double by Koen Nooij. A sacrifice fly by Max Clarijs tied the score, then Nooij gave Pirates a 3-2 lead by scoring on a wild pitch. With two outs, Danny Rombley added a runscoring single to make it 4-2.

From the fifth inning on, Amsterdam started to take more distance.

In the fifth, lead-off hitter Michael Duursma was hit by a pitch, moved on a wild pitch and a grounder, then scored on another wild pitch.

HCAW got its first two batters on base in the sixth when Roelie Henrique and Vince Rooi both walked. An infield-fly followed, then Robin Schel took over the pitching and was supported with a double play.

Amsterdam added three more runs in the sixth. Jim Ploeger ran into problems as the first four batter reached base safely. Rashid Gerard led off with a single, then the bases got loaded when Koen Nooij walked and Max Clarijs reached on a bunt-single. A run was scored when Nick Urbanus was hit by a pitch, which led to a pitching change. Giovanni Tensen took over, got two quick outs, but then gave up a 2-run single to Danny Rombley that lifted the lead to 8-2.

Pirates scored its final run in the seventh when Remco Draijer led off with a triple and scored on a following single by Rashid Gerard.
