HCAW vs. Kinheim
HCAW trailed 4-1 halfway the fourth inning against Kinheim, but turned the game its way from the sixth inning on to win 7-6.

Both teams got a runner in scoring position in the first inning. With one out int the top of the first, Julio Hernandez and Kevin Moesquit singled for Kinheim, but a double play followed. For HCAW, Rossini Frolijk doubled with two outs and moved on a wild pitch, but was left behind.

Kinheim then opened the score in the top of the second inning off starter Kaj Timmermans. With two outs, the Haarlem-squad got the bases loaded. Niels van Weert walked with one out, then Dexter de Weert reached on an infield-hit with two outs, followed by a walk for Jochem Koedijk. Jasper Keijzer then connected for a 2-run single.

In the bottom of the second inning, Kevin Nieveld led off for HCAW with a double off of Venezuelan Luis Figuera Roman, but the righthander followed with three strikeouts.

HCAW got one run back in the third. Boyd Tuhumury led off with a double and Rossini Frolijk singled with one out. Vince Rooi then followed with a double. That brought in Tuhumury, but Frolijk was eliminated at the plate when he also tried to score.

Kinheim took more distance by scoring twice in the top of the fourth inning. Niels van Weert led off with a single, advanced on a flyout, then scored on a single by Dexter de Weert. The latter then moved on a single by Jochem Koedijk and scored on a following single by Jasper Keijzer. With that, Kinheim now led 4-1, but that was not enough.

Kinheim left three runners behind in the next two innings, then the game turned the way of HCAW in the bottom of the sixth inning. Glenn Wassink then took over the pitching for Figuera, but ran into problems. He gave up a lead-off double to Vince Rooi, then walked Kevin Nieveld. The two advanced on a sacrifice bunt by Kevin Weijgertse, then both scored when Marciano Philippi followed with a triple. Hereafter, Delano Selassa walked. The 16-year old Selassa was added to the roster recently from the Rookie League-team of HCAW. He made his big league-debut last Thursday as pinch-hitter, but today, he made his first start as short stop. The bases got loaded when Julian Goins was hit by a pitch. Moments later, HCAW came alongside when Philippi scored on an infield-hit by Boyd Tuhumury. He grounded the ball to second baseman Kevin Moesquit, who then threw it to first baseman Niels van Weert. Tuhumury was ruled safe, as Van Weert was off the base. That led to a reaction from Van Weert, who was then ejected by 1B Umpire Martijn Bosschaart. Shortly hereafter, Selassa scored the go-ahead run on a grounder by Roelie Henrique. Scott Ronnenbergh then took over the pitching for Kinheim and closed the inning.

HCAW added a run in the seventh inning. Vince Rooi and Kevin Nieveld led off with walks, then advanced on a sacrifice bunt by Kevin Weijgertse. A wild pitch then enabled Rooi to score to make it 6-4 score. A walk for pinch-hitter Jelle Blaauw followed, but the inning ended with a strikeout and a caught stealing.

In the top of the eighth inning, Kinheim came alongside with two outs. Lead-off hitter Oliver van der Wijst Severino was hit by a pitch, then Dexter de Weert (with one out) and Julio Hernandez (with two outs) walked. That led to a pitching change, as Gijs van Els took over. The lefthander walked Kevin Moesquit to bring in a run and was replaced by Oscar Meuris. He was greeted with a runscoring single by Dudley Leonora that tied the score, 6-6. Hernandez also tried to score, but was eliminated at the plate to end the inning.

A crucial moment then followed in the bottom of the eighth inning. With one out, Boyd Tuhumury reached on an error, then moved on a single by Roelie Henrique. Hereafter, Rossini Frolijk flied out, but Tuhumury advanced to third base. However, Kinheim stated that Tuhumury had left second base too early and appealed. 3B Umpire Stenar van Groningen Schinkel gave the safe-signal, which led to a discussion with Kinheim's Head Coach Coach Mike Crouwel, who then also was ejected. Moments later, Tuhumury scored on a single by Vince Rooi to give HCAW a 7-6 lead.

In the top of the ninth, Kinheim left a runner on first base and was left empty-handed.

Today's game was the second in a row that HCAW had to do without its longtime Public Address Announcer Dieks Bannink. Due to back-problems, he was unable to be at the games played on Thursday and today. As of now, it is not clear yet when Bannink (who also is an Official Scorer) will be back behind the microphone.
Dieks, all the best and a quick recovery!
