DSS stunts with win against Amsterdam Pirates
Nederlands

AMSTERDAM (Neth.) - DSS had another productive ninth inning on Thursday-evening (June 1), this time resulting in a 3-1 victory against league-leader L&D Amsterdam Pirates. The series continues on Friday-evening, also in Amsterdam.

DSS took an 1-0 lead in the first inning, but Amsterdam came alongside in the second at bat. Hereafter, the game remained scoreless, but DSS then struck with two runs in the ninth inning to register a surprise victory.

Last Tuesday-evening, DSS trailed 5-4 in the ninth inning against Pickles UVV, rallied for five runs and won 9-5. With the win, DSS is now three points behind fourth-placed Hoofddorp Pioniers, which tonight played an 1-1 tie against HCAW.

In the Opening Weekend of this season, Amsterdam recorded three big wins against DSS, 11-4, 15-5 and 11-1. For DSS, which made its big league-debut in 2015, tonight was the first victory against Amsterdam at the highest level. In 2015 and 2016, Amsterdam recorded a season-sweep against the Haarlem-squad winning all six games in both seasons. But tonight, DSS broke the 15-game losing streak against Amsterdam.

Both teams collected eight basehits tonight.
