In the opener, Olympia Haarlem won 8-3, but then trailed 3-0 in the next game. Terrasvogels failed to take more distance, saw Olympia Haarlem come alongside and lost 5-3.

The double-header was well-visited by some 200 spectators, who saw two attractive games.

Terrasvogels vs. FysioExpert Olympia Haarlem (game one)
In the opener, Olympia Haarlem took an early lead off of starter Dani Bonnet. The first run was scored in the first inning. With two outs, Jessie van Aalst reached on a bunt-single, then advanced on a passed ball. She then scored on a following single by Mariëlle Vleugels. Shareday Christina also singled, but two runners were left behind.

Olympia was retired in order in the second inning, then added three runs in the third. With one out, Dinet Oosting and Jessie van Aalst walked and Mariëlle Vleugels followed with a 2-run double. With two outs, Rachel van Veen added a runscoring single. Next batter Emma Wójcik also singled to put runners on first and third base, but again, two runners were left behind.

Dani Bonnet retired the side again in the fourth, but then gave up a lead-off triple to Jessie van Aalst in the fifth and was relieved by Femke Duffhues. She began with a strikeout, but moments later, Van Aalst scored her third run in the game on a sacrifice bunt/squeeze by Shareday Christina.

In the top of the sixth, Olympia added three more runs to lift the lead to 8-0 and reach a mercy-rule, run-difference. Emma Wójcik led off with a walk, then pinch-hitter Stephanie Pearce was hit by a pitch and the bases got loaded when a bunt by Maranca Ham ended in a fielder's choice-sacrifice bunt. A runscoring single by Brenda Beers followed and a sacrifice fly by Dinet Oosting made it a 7-0 score. Another run was scored when Jessie van Aalst delivered a runscoring single.

With an 8-0 lead, Olympia needed only three outs to end the game via the mercy-rule, but Terrasvogels avoided that.

Trailing 1-0, Terrasvogels got two baserunners in the second inning when Jessica Waasdorp and Jeske Meewisse both walked with two outs. The inning ended when Meewisse was called out for runner's interference on a grounder by Kelly Koeman.

Olympia-pitcher Ilona Andringa then retired the side in the third, fourth and fifth inning. With an 8-0 lead in the bottom of the sixth inning, the righthander lost both her No-Hitter and ShutOut. In the sixth, she gave up a lead-off double to Gabi Obia, who moved to third base when an error followed a flyout by Dervisa Mutic. Next batter Kimbley Jones then delivered a line drive 2-run homerun down the leftfield-line to make it an 8-2 score and erase the mercy-rule deficit. Terrasvogels got two more runners hereafter when Lizzie Clarijs walked and Suka Van Gurp singled, but they were left behind.

The home team scored another run in the bottom of the seventh. With one out, pinch-hitter Sanne Korpel singled and Gabi Obia walked. Hereafter, Dervisa Mutic popped up behind second base. The ball appeared not to be easy catchable for short stop Emma Wójcik, but an infield-fly was called and she did made the catch. Moments later, Kimberly Jones singled to bring in Korpel. The game then ended when Wójcik caught a line drive from Lizzie Clarijs.

Terrasvogels vs. FysioExpert Olympia Haarlem (game two)
In the second game today, Terrasvogels took an early 3-0 lead in the first inning, but then was silenced in the remainder of the game. Olympia Haarlem came alongside in the third at bat, then decided the game in the sixth to win 5-3.

In the top of the first inning, Olympia Haarlem got the bases loaded without hitting a basehit, but failed to score. With one out, Terrasvogels-pitcher Micaela Whitney hit Dinet Oosting with a pitch, then a line drive from Jessie van Aalst was missed in the outfield, resulting in runners on second and third base. With first base open, Mariële Vleugels was walked intentionally to set up a force play. Whitney followed with a strikeout and a grounder then ended the at bat.

The American righthander was supported with three runs in the bottom of the first inning. Olympia-pitcher Mariëlle Vleugels had a rough first inning in which she gave up five hard basehits. Dervisa Mutic led off with a single and Kimberly Jones doubled down the leftfield-line, followed by a 2-run single by Lizzie Clarijs to give Terrasvogels an early lead. Clarijs had moved to second base on the throw to the plate, then advanced on a grounder and scored the third run on a single by Ella Krommendijk. Terrasvogels left runners at the corners, but led 3-0.

In the remainder of the game, Mariëlle Vleugels recovered and Terrasvogels got into scoring position only three more times. The home team got only four baserunners in the last six innings.

In the top of the second inning, Maranca Ham doubled for Olympia Haarlem with two outs, but Micaela Whitney then closed with a strikeout. For Terrasvogels, Kimberly Jones tripled with two outs in the bottom of the second, then a line drive from Lizzie Clarijs was nicely caught by Japanese leftfielder Tomoko Goda.

In the top of the third inning, Olympia Haarlem scored three unearned runs to come alongside. Lead-off hitter Dinet Oosting reached third base when her drive into the outfield was missed. She then scored when next batter Jessie van Aalst doubled. Hereafter, Mariëlle Vleugels singled and when that was followed by a new error, Van Aalst was able to score. Vleugels then moved on a sacrifice bunt by Cheska Ham, who was inserted into the starting line-up moments before the start of the game. She replaced Shareday Christina, who didn't start because of an injury, but got a pinch-hit appearance later in the game. With two outs, Vleugels scored the tying run on a double by Tomok Goda.

After being retired in order in the fifth, Olympia struck with two runs in the sixth. With one out, Brenda Beers walked, stole second base and scored the go-ahead run on a following single by Dinet Oosting, who then scored herself when Jessie van Aalst also singled. A walk for Mariëlle Vleugels gave Olympia another baserunner, but hereafter, Micaela Whitney struckout the next batter and 1B Kimberly Jones caught a line drive from Rachel van Veen.

In the top of the seventh, Micaela Whitney began with her tenth strikeout in the game. Emma Wójcik then singled and next batter Maranca Ham hit a hard line drive through the middle. But short stop Lizzie Clarijs made a great play, fielded the ball while falling, got it on second base for the force out, then 2B Suka Van Gurp got the ball in time on first base to complete a nice double play!

After Kimberly Jones had stranded on third base in the second inning, Terrasvogels got its lead-off hitter on base in the fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh inning, but was unable to score.

In the fourth, Jessica Waasdorp led off with a single. Mariëlle Vleugels then followed with two strikeouts and short stop Emma Wójcik caught a line drive from Dervisa Mutic.

In the fifth, Kimberly Jones doubled to give her two doubles and one triple in this game. Two grounders followed and leftfielder Tomoko Goda again caught a line drive, this time hit by Ella Krommendijk.

In the sixth, Rhowan Stuart led off with a single and moved on a grounder, but then was caught stealing after a pick-off. A strikeout ended the at bat.

In the seventh, Gabi Obia became the fourth consecutive lead-off hitter to reach base when she singled. With one out, Kimberly Jones lined the ball back to Mariëlle Vleugels, who caught the ball, but it jumped up and landed back in her glove, after which she succeeded to double up Obia on first base and end the game.
