Nederlands

HOOFDDORP / AMERSFOORT (Neth.) - Sparks Haarlem and Quick Amersfoort both won their double-header on Saturday (April 24) to close the exhibition season.

In Hoofddorp, Sparks Haarlem outscored the young team of Hoofddorp Pioniers with scores of 17-0 and 16-0, both in five innings. Caressa Schoor and Rachel Henks were the starting pitchers. Kirsten Scheele closed both games. Newcomer Riangela Flanegin, who last season played for Pioniers, homered for Sparks in the second game.

Quick Amersfoort won 7-1 and 2-1 against reigning champion Roef! at home in Amersfoort.

Unfortunately, no other details are available of these double-headers, except that Tommasita Pavan and Mariana Prins-Atanasova were the umpires in Hoofddorp and Martin Lemstra and Gerrit-Jan van der Hoeven officiated in Amersfoort.

Coming Saturday (May 1), the new season the highest Dutch softball-league gets underway.

Dutch champion Roef! then opens at home with a double-header against Hoofddorp Pioniers. Sparks Haarlem opens at home against Onze Gezellen and Quick Amersfoort plays at home against Tex Town Tigers. New this season that all double-headers will begin at 1 PM. But there are some exceptions, as Roef! will begin at 1:30 PM and both Amsterdam Pirates and Tex Town Tigers at 2 PM.
