St. Louis defeats Los Angeles to take 3-1 lead in NLCS

St. Louis Cardinals was outhit 8-6, but won 4-2 vs. Los Angeles Dodgers on Tuesday-evening (October 15) to take a 3-1 lead in the best-of-seven National League Championship Series.
Game 5 will be played on Wednesday.
The Cardinals scored three runs in the third inning off of starter Ricky Nelasco.
Daniel Descalso led off with a single, moved on a sacrifice bunt by pitcher Lance Lynn, then scored when Matt Carpenter followed with a double.
After next batter Carlos Beltran grounded out, Matt Holliday homered to make it 3-0.
The Dodgers narrowed the deficit to 3-2 by scoring twice in the bottom of the fourth inning off of Lance Lynn.
Adrian Gonzalez led off with a double and Andre Ethier walked, then Yasiel Puig singled to bring in Gonzalez.
After a flyout, A.J. Ellis also singled in to make it 3-2, but then pinch-hitter Skip Schumaker grounded into a double play to end the inning.
St. Louis added an insurance run in the seventh inning.
J.J. Howell became the third pitcher for the Dodgers and began with a strikeout.
But he then gave up a homerun to pinch-hitter Shane Robinson to increase the lead to 4-2.
