Game 3 Holland Series rains out
Nederlands
HOOFDDORP (Neth.) - Game 3 of the best-of-seven Holland Series between DOOR Neptunus and Vaessen Pioniers was cancelled due to rain on Thursday-evening. The game is re-scheduled for Friday-evening, September 20 and will start at 7:30 PM. Neptunus leads the Series, 2-0.

Game 4 is scheduled to be played next Saturday at Hoofddorp with Game 5 (if needed) to be played on Sunday.

Initially, after a brief rain-period, the umpire-crew checked the field and gave a go-ahead for the game around 6:45 PM. However, shortly after 7 o'clock, it started to rain again. The umpire-crew postponed the start of the game until 8 PM. But the rain didn't stop and the field became unplayable, so around 7:45 PM, the decision was made to cancel the game and postpone it to Friday.

Lars Huijer (Pioniers) and Diegomar Markwell (Neptunus) were the announced starters for today's game and probably will take the mound now on Friday. Markwell also started Game 1 last Saturday, which ended in a 4-0 shutout-win for Neptunus.

Huijer will make his first appearance for Pioniers. He recently returned home after completion of his professional season and was added to the roster of Pioniers for the remainder of the season. Huijer was 8-2 this season for the Everett AquaSox, the Single-A Advanced team of the Seattle Mariners. He pitched in 14 games, starting 13 of them and struckout 61 batters in 71 1/3 inning, while walking only 23. Huijer gave up 57 basehits and 24 runs and finished with a 3.03 ERA. This was Huijer's third professional season with the Mariners-organization. He pitched in the Rookie League in 2011 and 2012, before being promoted for this season. Huijer made his debut in the Dutch big league in 2010, pitching in one game for Pioniers. He appeared in eight games in the Dutch league for Pioniers in 2011 and then was 2-3. Huijer never pitched for Pioniers in a post-season.
