Lions complete sweep to capture Taiwanese title

Uni-President 7-Eleven Lions won Game 4 of the best-of-seven Taiwan Series vs. EDA Rhinos 9-2 on Wednesday-evening (October 30) to complete a sweep and capture the Taiwanese professional baseball-title.
But the win didn't come easy, as the score was tied a 2-2 after nine innings.
The Lions then rallied for seven runs in the top of the eleventh inning to win the game.
Both the Lions and Rhinos will participate in the upcoming Asian Series next month, as Taiwan is the host country of the event.
In Chengcing Lake Baseball Stadium in the southern city of Kaohsiung, the Lions trailed twice in the game.
In the fifth inning, the Rhinos took an 1-0 lead, but the Lions came alongside in the sixth at bat.
The Rhinos then re-took the lead in the eighth inning, but again the Lions tied the score, this time in the top of the ninth.
The Lions outhit the Rhinos 17-8, including three hits by Tai-san Chang and Guo-qing Gao.
The latter was named Most Valuable Player of the Series.
This was the ninth championship for the Lions, who also captured the title in 1991, 1995, 1996, 2000, 2007, 2007, 2009 and 2011.
