DSS adds talent to team

DSS can look back to a fine debut in the highest division this year.
The Haarlem-squad finished in sixth place.
In the transfer-period, the team added several young talented players to its roster to build the squad for the coming years.
Coming to Haarlem are three players from Tridents, the Rookie League-team of Curaçao Neptunus.
They are righthanded pitcher Gijs Timmer, catcher Ruben Prins and infielder Menno Lenting.
Also coming is outfielder Sven van de Sanden from 'neighbour' Corendon Kinheim, while outfielder Koen Halderman is added to the roster from the club's Rookie League-team.
Leaving DSS are outfielder Mark Smit (Vaessen Pioniers), catcher Levine Gabriëls (returning to HCAW) and catcher Sven Jongejans (UVV).
Pitcher Jorn van Ingen has retired, while pitcherKevin Bosch and catcher Shane Boeree both will play in the Rookie League-team of DSS.
The team will be led again by Lennart Stut next season.
Of the five newcomers, Sven van de Sanden has the most experience.
He played in 33 games this season for Corendon Knheim, hitting .255 (25-for-98).
Van de Sanden scored 11 runs and also batted in 11, while collecting five doubles.
Sven's brother Tommy van de Sanden is an infielder at DSS.
Koen Halderman already played in 13 games this season for DSS.
He batted .250 (6-for-24), scored four runs and batted in three.
Righthanded pitcher Gijs Timmer appeared in three games (one start) for Neptunus this season.
He was 0-0 with an 1.80 ERA and struckout three batters in 10 innings pitched.
Ruben Prins and Menno Lenting didn't play in the big league this season.
But they were members of the Netherlands Junior Team that participated in the European Junior Championship this year.
Also playing in that team were Timmer and Halderman.
Outfielder Mark Smit was the second-best hitter of DSS this season.
In his rookie-season, the centerfielder batted .250 (38-for-152).
With 22, Smit scored the most runs for DSS, which made its debut this year in the highest division.
Smit also led the team with 16 stolen bases and was second-best in the team in basehits (38) and RBI's (10).
Levine Gabriëls returns to HCAW.
This season, he batted .179 (20-for-112) for DSS, score nine runs and batted in ten.
He shared the team's lead with two triples.
Sven Jongejans played in 38 games and batted .203 (26-for-128).
He scored the team's second-most runs (16) and batted in nine.
Shane Boeree played in 22 games and hit .184 (9-for-49) with four runs scored and two RBI's.
Righthander Jorn van Ingen was 1-6 and finished with a 3.74 ERA in 16 games (eight starts).
He was second-best with 29 strikeouts and pitched 55 1/3 inning.
Righthander Kevin Bosch was 0-1, pitching in eight games (one start).
He struckout six and walked 19 batters in 11 2/3 inning.
