Kinheim adds only one player, but loses five

HAARLEM (Neth.) - Corendon Kinheim, which lost this years Holland Series to Curaçao Neptunus, saw five players leave in the transfer-period.

One player comes to the Haarlem-squad, which will be led next season by Mike Crouwel. He takes over as Head Coach, succeeding Wim Martinus.

The lone newcomer is righthanded pitcher Reggie Bomberg, who this season pitched for Vaessen Pioniers.

A big loss is experienced catcher and powerhitter Dashenko Ricardo, who will play for Neptunus next season. Also leaving are 1B Jeffrey Arends (Twins), 3B Mervin Gario (Pioniers), outfielder Sven van de Sanden (DSS) and RHP Pim Walsma, who will play for Mokum Hawks, which is the third team of Amsterdam Pirates.

Righthander Reggie Bomberg was 2-2 this season with a 7.00 ERA for Pioniers. He appeared in 17 games and started three of them. Bomberg struckout 13 batters, walked 15 and gave up 37 basehits in the 27 innings he pitched.

Before coming to Pioniers, Bomberg pitched for ADO Lakers.




...Dashenko Ricardo...

Catcher Dashenko Ricardo was the leading hitter this season for Kinheim. Ricardo batted .420 (71-for-169) and also led the Haarlem-based team in hits (71) and runs batted in (40). He scored 27 runs and hit four homeruns. Ricardo's batting average was only .011 less than the league's batting champion Christian Diaz, who batted .431 and now will become a teammate at Neptunus. His 71 basehits were the most in the league, while his 40 RBI's are second-best.

Infielder Mervin Gario returns to Pioniers. This season, he was the second-best hitter of Kinheim, hitting .395 (58-for-147). Gario, who mainly played at third base, scored 27 runs, batted in 28 and led the team with 13 doubles. He hit three homeruns and stole six bases. Gario played for Kinheim since 2012 after having played for Pioniers before transfering to Haarlem.

Jeffrey Arends batted .279 this season (39-for-140) and scored 19 runs, while batting in 25. Before coming to Kinheim, the first baseman had played several seasons for Neptunus.

Sven van de Sanden batted .255 (25-for-98) this season, scored 11 runs and also batted in 11.

Reliever Pim Walsma led the Kinheim-staff with an 1.30 ERA. He was 3-0, pitching in 26 games, while striking out 36 batters in 34 2/3 inning, walking ten and giving up only seven runs. Walsma's ERA was third-best in the league this season behind Rob Cordemans (Amsterdam Pirates, 0.84) and Kenny Van Den Branden (Neptunus, 1.26).
