Kinheim had a productive start, but failed to open the score, leaving two runners in the second inning after The Hawks had turned a double play in the first at bat.
Kinheim then opened the score with one run in the third inning.
Jochem Koedijk led off with a bunt-single and moved on a sacrifice bunt by Jasper Keijzer.
Next, Mervin Gario walked, but then he was forced out on a grounder by Bryan Engelhardt.
A following single by Dashenko Ricardo accounted for the 1-0 lead for Kinheim, but another force out ended the inning after Engelhardt had stolen third base.
Kinheim-starter Nick Veltkamp held The Hawks scoreless in the first four innings.
The Hawks got close to the tying run in the fourth.
With one out, Tim Roodenburg walked, then moved on a 2-out single by Jules Peters, but a grounder ended the at bat.
The Hawks then struck with two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Wijnand Ruben led off with a single, then was awarded second base on a balk and scored the tying run when Louie-Jay Sienders singled.
Sienders advanced on an outfield-error and scored the go-ahead run when next batter Bruce Martinus also singled.
Martinus played in only his second game for The Hawks (he appeared in his first one on Saturday) and is the son of Kinheim's Head Coach Wim Martinus and brother of Calvin Martinus, who today was the designated hitter for Kinheim.
Martinus Sr. is currently absent, as he is on Curaçao cue to family circumstances.
3B Coach Mike Crouwel fills in as Acting Head Coach.
With Martinus on second base and still no outs, The Hawks had a chance of adding more runs.
Martinus advanced on a sacrifice bunt by Odion Gouverneur and a grounder by Stephen Henson, but then was left behind.
After giving up the run in the third inning, The Hawks-pitcher Enoch Deaton threw three scoreless innings.
The lefthander retired the side in the fourth.
He then gave up a lead-off double to Jochem Koedijk in the fifth.
With one out, he walked Mervin Gario, while Koedijk stole third base.
But the American hurler was then supported with a double play on a grounder by Bryan Engelhardt.
In the seventh inning, Kinheim got alongside.
Niels van Weert led off with a single, moved on a wild pitch and a sacrifice bunt by Jochem Koedijk, then scored on a sacrifice fly by Jasper Keijzer.
After being retired in order in the bottom of the seventh, The Hawks re-took the lead in the eighth, but then also left three runners behind.
With two outs, Tim Roodenburg reached on an error, then Berend Ruben singled and Jules Peters walked to load the bases.
Hereafter, Scott Ronnenbergh took over the pitching for Nick Veltkamp, but the lefthander began with a walk for Steven Wharwood that gave The Hawks a 3-2 lead.
A strikeout followed, but Kinheim trailed again.
Deaton returned to the mound in the ninth.
With one out, he gave up singles to Sven van de Sanden and Niels van Weert.
Next batter Jochem Koedijk then lined to first baseman Odion Gouverneur, who made an unassisted double play to end the game and secure the win.
