UVV was off to a productive start, scoring four runs in the first inning off of starter Quinn Tramm. Three runs were unearned, as two errors contributed to the scoring. Lampe then scored on a single by Dennis De Quint, which was followed by an outfield-error that put the runners on second and third base. A sacrifice fly by Omar Williams accounted for the next run, followed by a runscoring grounder by Mike Bazuin. Next, Brennan Nijhof doubled and Jamie Verheyleweghen walked, then Jordan Illis added an RBI ground-rule double that made it 4-0, then two runners were left behind.

After leaving two runners in the second inning, UVV added a run in the third at bat. Brennan Nijhof led off with a single and advanced on a following error. He moved on a grounder, then scored on a single by Jordan Illis, but UVV also would leave two more runners.

The Hawks left a runner in the first and second inning, then rallied for four runs in the bottom of the third off of starter Thijs Steenwijk. American pitcher Enoch Deaton was in tonight's batting order as designated hitter and led off with a walk, then Jules Peters singled. With runners on second and third base, Odion Gouverneur delivered a runscoring single. With one out, a double steal put runners on second and third base. A run was then scored on a grounder by Tim Roodenburg and Berend Ruben followed with a 2-run homerun that narrowed the deficit to 5-4.

In the fourth, The Hawks came alongside when Stephen Henson led off with a walk and Gregory Trinidad was hit by a pitch. Kevin Noordzij then took over the pitching, saw the runners advanced on a passed ball, then gave up a runscoring single to Enoch Deaton that made it 5-5. A strikeout and double play ended the inning.

UVV came back on top in the fifth inning. With one out, Jordan Illis singled and scored on a single by Dennis Ribbens, but the team also left the bases loaded.

UVV took some more distance by adding two runs in the sixth off of new pitcher Michel Offerman. Chris Williams led off with a double, moved on a wild pitch and Mike Bazuin walked and stole second base. With one out, the two scored on a single by Jamie Verheyleweghen.

In the bottom of the sixth inning, The Hawks again brought UVV's lead in jeopardy. Stephen Henson led off with a single and stole second base. Jules Peters added another single and after an infield-fly, a single by Amir Daou made it an 8-7 score. Deaton scored moments before Peters was eliminated at third base trying to advance an extra base on the single.
