That was Dirk van 't Klooster, who singled with one out in the first inning.
Thereafter, Veltkamp retired eight batters in a row.
Huijer faced a productive Kinheim in the first at bat, as Mervin Gario and Niels van Weert led off with singles.
But a force out and double play ended the inning.
Huijer then retired the side in the second and gave up a 2-out single to Gario in the third, but he stranded on second base.
In the top of the fourth, Van 't Klooster led off for Pioniers with a single and Vince Rooi singled with one out, but both were left behind.
Kinheim then opened the score in the bottom of the fourth.
With two outs, Dashenko Ricardo singled, then scored on a following double by Jeffrey Arends.
Next batter Dudley Leonora then singled to put runners on first and third base, but a grounder closed the at bat.
Pioniers came alongside in the top of the fifth, thanks to two rookies.
Djewi Appelman led off with a single, then scored on a 2-out double by Daryl Williams.
Appelman started the game as third baseman, while Williams made his first big league-start and played in leftfield.
After Kinheim was retired in order in the bottom of the fifth and Veltkamp's reliever Pim Walsma got three outs in a row in the top of the sixth, the home team re-took the lead moments later.
In the bottom of the sixth, Kinheim scored twice off of Huijer.
With one out, Phil Ortez singled and Dashenko Ricardo doubled.
After Dexter de Weert was inserted as pinch-runner for Ricardo, the two runners both scored on the second double in this game by Jeffrey Arends.
With two outs, Arends moved to third base on a wild pitch, but then stranded.
In the top of the seventh, Walsma gave up a lead-off double to Kevin Dirksen, but three outs followed.
In the top of the eighth, leading 3-1, Scott Ronnenbergh became Kinheim's new pitcher and saw Pioniers threaten the lead, as it got the bases loaded.
Daniel Fernandes led off with a single, then Ronnenbergh hit Dirk van 't Klooster with a pitch.
Two flyouts followed, but then the bases got loaded when Quintin De Cuba also was hit.
Ronnenbergh ended the threat with a strikeout.
Kinheim then added two insurance runs in the eighth inning.
With two outs, reliever Sedley Karel (who had taken over in the seventh) walked Arends, then got the bases loaded when Dudley Leonora and Jasper Keijzer both singled.
Hereafter, Sven van de Sanden also singled to bring in two runs, which led to a pitching change.
Dennis Buring took over, re-loaded the bases by hitting Mervin Gario with a pitch, but a grounder then ended the inning.
In the ninth, Kinheim-closer Arshwin Asjes got two quick outs, then gave up a single to Daryl Williams and walked Daniel Fernandes.
But a force out then ended the inning and the game.
