Curaçao-born Darren Seferina has reached the Semi-Final of the Midwest League (Single-A) with Peoria Chiefs (St. Louis Cardinals). In the opener on Wednesday, Seferina was 0-for-4 in a 2-1 home-victory. The Chiefs then also won on Thursday (September 10) on the road in Geneva (Illinois) to complete a sweep in the best-of-three Play-Off vs. Kane County Cougars (Arizona Diamondbacks).

In the second game, Seferina again was the lead-off hitter and second baseman for the Chiefs. This time, he went 2-for-5. Trailing 1-0 in the top of the second inning, the Chiefs scored twice, thanks to a 2-run homerun by Nick Thompson. In the third, Seferina singled with one out, but was forced out in a double play. Peoria then added a run in the sixth to make it a 3-1 lead. In the seventh, Seferina hit his second basehit in the game, this time with two outs. He was awarded second base on a balk, but then stranded. Kane County got one run back in its seventh, but lost 3-2 to be eliminated.

In the upcoming Semi-Final, Peoria Chiefs now will meet Cedar Rapids Kernels (Minnesota Twins), which swept its series vs. Quad Cities River Bandits (Houston Astros). For the other Semi-Final, Lansing Lugnuts (Toronto Blue Jays) and West Michigan Whitecaps (Detroit Tigers) qualified. They also concluded their first round of the Play-Offs with a sweep, respectively winning vs. Great Lakes Loons (Los Angeles Dodgers) and Fort Wayne TinCaps (San Diego Padres).

At Granville (West Virginia), playing at home, Danny Arribas led off the bottom of the second inning with his homerun to give the West Virginia Black Bears (Pittsburgh Pirates) an early 1-0 lead vs. Williamsport Crosscutters (Philadelphia Phillies) on Thursday in the opening game. In the fifth inning, Arribas also batted in the second run. With one out, the Black Bears got the bases loaded when Mitchell Tolman and Christian Kelley singled and Ty Moore reached on an error. Hereafter, Arribas flied out to rightfield. Tolman went on to score, but Arribas' flyout also ended in a double play, as Kelley was eliminated at third base. But with this, Arribas got another run batted in, as his flyout was a sacrifice fly. However, in the box score of the game, Arribas' sacrifice fly is wrongly not mentioned, however, he is credited with an RBI.

Both runs were important to the team, as the Black Bears went on to win only 2-1. In the seventh inning, Williamsport scored its lone run.

The winner of this series meets the Staten Island Yankees (New York Yankees), which has won its series vs. Tri-City ValleyCats (Houston Astros) by winning the first two games.

In 2012, Arribas played for the Netherlands National Baseball Team during the European Championship. In the same year, he was a member of the Dutch squad during an invitational tournament in Florida in March.
