MISSOULA, Montana (USA) - Jonathan Martijn and his team Billings Mustangs were eliminated on Friday (September 11) the North Division Play-Offs of the Pioneer League (Rookie League).

Four other Dutch players are still active with their teams in their postseason.

At Missoula (Montana), the Billings Mustangs (Cincinnati Reds) and Jonathan Martijn were eliminated in the North Division Play-Offs of the Pioneer League (Rookie League).

The team opened the best-of-three on Wednesday with a 5-2 win at home, but then lost the next game 7-5 at Missoula Osprey (Arizona Diamondbacks) on Thursday. In Game 3 on Friday (September 11), Missoula won again, this time with a 6-3 score, to win the series and qualify for the Championship Final.

Jonathan Martijn didn't play in the first two games. In the third match-up, the Curaçao-born outfielder was the designated hitter and went 1-for-3. With Billings trailing 1-0, the team rallied for three runs in the top of the third inning. Ed Charlton led off with a single, then was awarded second base on a balk. He moved to third base when Martijn also singled. Next, Charlton scored the tying run on a single by Shane Mardirosian. After a sacrifice bunt moved the two runners, Martijn scored the go-ahead run on a sacrifice fly by Brantley Bell and another run was added on a wild pitch.

However, Missoula came alongside in the bottom of the fourth, then took a 4-3 lead in the sixth and added two more runs in the seventh.

In the best-of-three final, Missoula meets Idaho Falls Chukars (Kansas City Royals), which won its series in the South Division vs. Orem Owlz (Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim), 2-1.

Danny Arribas and the West Virginia Black Bears (Pittsburgh Pirates) opened with a win vs. Williamsport Crosscutters (Philadelphia Phillies) in the Play-Offs of the New York-Penn League (Single-A Short Season). On Friday, the best-of-three got even when Williamsport won 3-1. Arribas, who batted in both runs in the opener, also batted in the lone run for West Virginia in this game.

After losing the opener, Juremi Profar and Hickory Crawdads (Texas Rangers) won Game 2 vs. West Virginia Power (Pittsburgh Pirates) in the best-of-three Northern Division Play-Offs of the South Atlantic League (Single-A). Hickory won 6-3 and Profar went 1-for-2, walked twice and scored two runs.

San Jose Giants (San Francisco Giants) won its best-of-three Round One Play-off vs. Stockton Ports (Oakland A's), 2-1, in the North Division of the California League (Single-A Advanced). The team won the opener 7-2, lost the next game 4-2, but then won 5-3 on Friday. Curaçao-born John Polonius is playing for San Jose, but is just coming off an injury and didn't play in the series. The team now meets Visalia Rawhide (Arizona Diamondbacks) in the best-of-five North Division Final.

In the best-of-five Play-Offs of the International League (Triple-A), the Norfolk Tides (Baltimore Orioles) and Sharlon Schoop have tied their series vs. Columbus Clippers (Cleveland Indians). After losing the opener 5-2, game two was cancelled due to rain in the second inning on Thursday. The game was re-scheduled for Friday and the Tides went on to win 6-1. Schoop was 1-for-3 with a double, walked once and scored a run.
