(August 15)

Mike Groen went the distance for DSS, throwing 104 pitches and giving up only three hits in the first complete game of his big league-career. The righthander struckout two batters.

DSS stranded two runners in the first inning off of HCAW-starter Sander Helmendach, but then opened the score in the next at bat. With one out, Joffrey Heus was hit by a pitch, then moved on a single by Ryan Miner and scored on a 2-out single by Mark Smit. With runners on second and third base, Helmendach ended the inning with a strikeout.

DSS was retired in order in the third inning, but then added runs in the fourth and fifth. In the fourth, Levine Gabriëls led off with a single, moved on a sac-bunt by Heus and scored on a single by Miner. In the fifth, it was Sven Jongejans, who led off with a single. With one out, he got into scoring position on a grounder by Tino van Erk and scored on a single by Seb Visser to make it 3-0.

Mike Groen retired the side in the first inning, then was supported with a double play in the second inning. In the third at bat, another double play followed. Raoell Kortstam led off with a single. Hereafter, he initially advanced on a sacrifice bunt by Max Clarijs, but then was doubled up.

HCAW left a runner on first base in the fourth and sixth inning, while being retired in order in the fifth at bat by Groen.

In the top of the seventh inning, Groen walked lead-off hitter Roy Seltenrijch, followed by a single by Rossini Frolijk. But hereafter, Kevin Nieveld flied into a double play and HCAW left another runner when a foul-out ended the at bat.

In the bottom of the seventh, DSS added another run. Mark Smit led off with a triple, which led to a pitching change. Steven van Groningen took over for Helmendach, but was greeted with an RBI-single by Sven Jongejans.

After Mike Groen retired the side for the third time this game in the top of the eighth, DSS lifted its lead to 6-0 by scoring twice in the bottom half of the inning. Seb Visser led off with a single, then Levine Gabriëls was hit by a pitch. The two moved on a sacrifice bunt by Joffrey Heus, then respectively scored on singles by Ryan Miner and Mitchel Dautzenberg. Hereafter, Gijs van Els became HCAW's new pitcher and eliminated the next two batters, but DSS now had a commanding lead.

In the top of the ninth inning, Groen got two quick outs, then Roy Seltenrijch reached on an error, but a flyout then ended the game.
