HCAW was the most productive team tonight, but the Bussum-squad managed to score only one run.
The team left 12 runners, including the bases loaded in both the ninth and tenth inning.
Making his comeback in a HCAW-uniform tonight was Jurien Overman, who played in rightfield and was 1-for-5.
Overman, who is a catcher, last played a full season for HCAW in 2013.
Last year and this season, he plays for a minor league-team of HCAW.
As HCAW is at the bottom of the ranking, Overman was added to the roster for the Play-Downs, hoping he can contribute with his bat.
Despite getting its first two batters on base in the first inning, HCAW didn't score.
DSS-starter Rik Geestman walked both Emersson Paula and Gianni Frolijk.
With one out, the lefthander gave up a single to Rossini Frolijk.
Paula tried to score on this hit, but was eliminated at the plate.
The inning ended when Overman flied out, leaving two runners behind.
After being retired in order in the second inning, HCAW opened the score in the third at bat.
Max Clarijs led off with a single, then Emersson Paula walked.
After the two had moved on a sacrifice bunt by Gianni Frolijk, Roy Seltenrijch delivered a runscoring double.
Clarijs scored, but Paula was eliminated after overrunning third base.
A strikeout ended the inning and this would be HCAW's lone run of the evening.
In the fourth inning, Jurien Overman and Kevin Nieveld led off with singles.
But moments later, Overman was picked off at second base by Geestman.
HCAW left a runner in both the fifth and sixth inning, then DSS turned a double play in the seventh and Jorn van Ingen (who took over in the fifth) retired the side in the eighth at bat.
HCAW-starter Maickel Rietel retired the first nine batters in a row.
He then gave up a lead-off single to Mark Smit in the fourth, but was supported with a double play.
In the fifth, DSS came alongside.
With two outs, Ryan Miner walked and Joffrey Heus singled.
Hereafter, a run was scored on a single by Lex Leijenaar, which was followed by an outfield-error, putting runners on second and third base.
But they were left behind.
After DSS left a runner in scoring position in the sixth inning, Steven van Groningen took over the HCAW-pitching in the seventh.
Van Groningen retired the side in the seventh and also didn't ran in much problems in the next two at bats.
HCAW then got a chance to finish the game in its favor in the bottom of the ninth inning.
With one out, Kevin Nieveld singled, which led to a pitching change.
Max Ploegstra took over, while Peter van Doesburg was inserted as pinch-runner for Nieveld.
He then advanced on a grounder by Jelle Blaauw.
To create a force play, pinch-hitter Jarreau Martina was walked intentionally, but then the bases got loaded when next batter Max Clarijs received a normal walk.
HCAW left three runners behind when a grounder ended the inning.
And so, the game went into extra innings.
In the top of the 10th inning, DSS scored twice with two outs.
With pinch-runner Ruud Naaktgeboren (2nd base) and Ryan Miner (1st base) being the tie-break runners, a sacrifice bunt-attempt by Joffrey Heus failed, as the first was forced out on third base.
An infield-fly accounted for the second out, but then Mitchel Dautzenberg delivered a 2-run double to give DSS a 3-1 lead.
In the bottom of the 10th, closer Kevin Geestman pitched for DSS.
Max Clarijs (2B) and Emersson Paula (1B) were the runners and also on HCAW's side, a sac-bunt attempt failed.
Gianni Frolijk's bunt ended in a fly ball and so the runners didn't advance.
They did move when Roy Seltenrijch singled to load the bases.
But hereafter, Geestman struckout Rossini Frolijk and Jurien Overman to end the game and complete the sweep.
