HCAW scored both runs in the bottom of the second inning off of Enoch Deaton.
The American lefthander gave up a lead-off single to Kevin Nieveld, but followed with a strikeout.
Next, a throwing error was made on a force play-grounder by Rikkert Kempen, which led to runners on second and third base.
The two then scored on a following double by Max Clarijs.
Another error was then made on a grounder by Peter van Doesburg.
But with runners on second and third base, a strikeout and groundout ended the at bat.
HCAW was retired in order in the next two innings, then got several baserunners in the fifth through seventh at bat, but failed to add more runs.
In the fifth, with two outs, Jelle Blaauw and Marciano Philippi both singled, but stranded.
In the sixth, with one out, Gianni Frolijk singled and an error was made on a grounder by Rikkert Kempen, but again two runners were left.
In the seventh, HCAW left one runner.
The Hawks was silenced by starter Sander Helmendach, who gave up only two hits in six innings.
The first of these hits was registered with two outs in the first inning by Tim Roodenburg, but a strikeout followed.
After retiring the side in the next two at bats, Helmendach gave up a lead-off single to Julian Goins in the fourth, but this time a double play followed.
In the fifth, lead-off hitter Brian Raap reached when an error was made on his bunt, but was forced out.
The Hawks never got into scoring position in the first six innings off of Helmendach, who walked Odion Gouverneur with one out in the sixth, but he was forced out.
In the seventh, with a 2-0 lead, Helmendach walked pinch-hitter Gregory Trinidad and Brian Raap.
He was then relieved by Steven van Groningen, who got a force play-grounder from Kevin van Veen.
Raap was forced out, but Trinidad advanced to third base, then scored on a following sacrifice fly by Stephen Henson.
Next batter Louie-Jay Sienders was hit by a pitch, then a grounder ended the at bat, stranding two runners.
In the eighth, The Hawks got close to coming alongside.
Odion Gouverneur led off with a single, then stole second base and moved to third base on a grounder by Amir Daou.
However, he stranded there, as two more grounders followed.
In the ninth, Van Groningen gave up a 2-out single to Stephen Henson, but ended the game with a strikeout.
