Amsterdam Pirates didn't played well tonight and faced a 4-0 deficit after two innings.
That underscored that the Amsterdam-squad would have a difficult evening in front of its home crowd.
When Neptunus added three more runs in the fifth, the game was more or less played.
Facing lead-off hitter Dwayne Kemp, veteran righthander Rob Cordemans started the game with a good strike in the zone of Home Plate Umpire Winfried Berkvens.
But on his next delivery, Kemp made good contact and the ball ended up over the fence in leftfield for a homerun.
The tone was set.
Hereafter, Stijn van der Meer singled.
Cordemans then struckout Raily Legito, while Van der Meer took off towards second base, where he initially was called out.
However, Neptunus protested, the three umpires got together and the ruling was reversed, meaning Van der Meer ended up safely on second base with a stolen base.
The bases were then loaded when Cordemans walked Gianison Boekhoudt and Christian Diaz.
A flyout accounted for the second out, but then a wild pitch followed, enabling Van der Meer to score the second run.
The bases were re-loaded when Rien Vernooij also walked, but three runners were left behind when Cordemans ended the inning by striking out Shaldimar Daantji.
In the bottom of the first inning, Amsterdam appeared to do something back immediately, as Roelie Henrique led off with an infield-hit off of Orlando Yntema.
However, he then took off somewhat too soon from first base, got into a rundown after a pick-off and was eliminated.
With two outs, Nick Urbanus walked, but he was left behind.
Neptunus took more distance in the second at bat.
Urving Kemp led off with a walk, then Dwayne Kemp followed with a bunt-single towards third base.
First baseman Kenny Berkenbosch and 1B Umpire René Ras were clearly bothered by a lowstanding sun, but third baseman Rashid Gerard nevertheless threw the ball to first, while Kemp almost had arrived there.
The throw was off-balance and went into rightfield to put runners on second and third base.
The Kemp-brothers then respectively scored on a grounder by Stijn van der Meer and a single by Raily Legito to make it 4-0.
In the bottom of the second inning, now trailing 4-0, Bas Nooij doubled with one out for Amsterdam.
However, an appeal play at first base followed, as Nooij had missed touching first base and he was called out by 1B Umpire René Ras, who made a good call.
A strikeout ended the at bat.
Cordemans retired the side in the third and fourth inning, then gave up three more runs in the fifth.
Stijn van der Meer and Raily Legito led off with back-to-back doubles, resulting in the first run.
With one out, Christian Diaz homered to lift the lead to 7-0.

When Diaz homered, it marked the first time that Cordemans had given up two homeruns in one game since pitching for Amsterdam.
Cordemans made his debut in an Amsterdam-uniform in 2010.
In his six seasons with the team, Cordemans gave up only five homeruns in the regular season, one each on 2010, 2012, 2013, 2014 and this year.
In postseason, Cordemans gave up four homeruns before today.
The first two were hit during the Holland Series of 2010 and 2011, the next one in the Play-Offs of 2013.
On August 20 of the current Play-Offs, Cordemans gave up a homerun to Phil Ortez (Kinheim).
In the meantime, Amsterdam was unable to do something back off of Orlando Yntema.
After having a call reversed in the first inning and the missed first base in the second inning, Amsterdam got another call against them in the fifth.
By the way, all calls were correct!
With one out in the fifth, Jesse Aussems singled, then Linoy Croes doubled with two outs.
With runners on second and third base, Aussems scored when it appeared that short stop Stijn van der Meer made an error on a grounder by Roelie Henrique.
However, runner Croes was ruled out of what appeared to be interference.
Moments later, it became clear that he was called out, because he was hit by the batted ball just on the front of his spike.
And with that, no run was scored and the inning ended.
In the top of the seventh, Robin Schel took over for Cordemans.
The lefthander had a fine outing, as he retired all nine batters he faced, including three strikeouts.
Yntema retired the side in the sixth and seventh inning, then gave up an one-out single to Linoy Croes in the eighth, but he stranded on first base.
In the bottom of the ninth, Yntema gave up a lead-off homerun to Nick Urbanus, followed by a double by Kenny Berkenbosch.
Yntema was relieved by Jorian van Acker.
He saw Berkenbosch advance to third base when Remco Draijer flied out.
Van Acker followed by striking out Bas Nooij and Jesse Aussems to end the game.
