The first four innings remained scoreless today, but both teams were productive in that span.

Next, Mitchell Koot reached on an error and Ryan Miner walked, but the inning ended when the first also was caught stealing.
After being retired in order in the second, DSS again got some baserunners in the third.
Lex Leijenaar and Mitchel Dautzenberg (bunt) reached on singles.
The first was forced out, then Van Zijl struckout the next two batters.
In the fourth, Miner led off with a single, but was forced out on a drive into rightfield by Seb Visser.
With two outs, Joffrey Heus also singled.
Two runners stranded when a pop-fly ended the at bat.
Closer Kevin Geestman started for DSS.
He gave up three hits to UVV, which also stranded five runners.
In the first at bat, the righthander gave up a 2-out double to Dennis De Quint and walked Mike Bazuin, but they stranded.
In the second, a 2-out walk was followed by a strikeout, then UVV was retired in order in the third.
In the fourth, Mike Bazuin led off with a double, then moved to third base on an outfield-error.
Next, Tony Enos walked, but while he moved to first base, Bazuin was picked off while being off base at third.
A costly moment, as Jamie Verheyleweghen followed with a single.
Enos then stole third base, but UVV stranded two runners, as a strikeout and groundout ended the at bat.
After DSS was retired in order in the top of the fifth, UVV did open the score in the bottom of this at bat.
With one out, Joris van Ballegooy walked.
He then stole second base and scored on an one-out double by Dennis De Quint.
DSS came alongside in the top of the seventh inning.
Joffrey Heus led off with a walk and moved to third base when Lex Leijenaar singled.
Mitchel Dautzenberg then grounded into a double play, but Heus scored the tying run.
In the bottom of the seventh inning, UVV reacted with three runs off of new pitcher Mike Groen, who normally is used as starting pitcher in the DSS-rotation.
Groen was greeted with singles by Jordan Illis and Joris van Ballegooy (bunt).
A errant pick-off attempt at second base moved both runners, then Illis scored on a sacrifice fly by Gilmer Lampe to give UVV a 2-1 lead.
Next, Dennis De Quint homered to account for two more runs and lift the lead to 4-1.
UVV added two more runs in the eighth.
With one out, Omar Williams singled, then Jordan Illis walked.
With two outs, Gilmer Lampe delivered a 2-run single to make it a 6-1 score.
DSS was retired in order in the eighth by new pitcher Gilian van Lith.
The team reached base again in the ninth, when new pitcher Kevin Noordzij walked lead-off hitter Seb Visser.
But he stranded on second base, as Noordzij got a strikeout and groundout to end the game.

UVV scores late to secure fifth place
VLEUTEN (Neth.) -
UVV won 6-1 on Saturday (August 29) vs. DSS.
With that, UVV won this series, meaning it wil finish the Play-Downs in first place and with that in fifth place overall.
UVV also finished in fifth place after completion of the regular season.
