Nederlands
SEOUL (South Korea) - The Doosan Bears are the new champion of professional baseball in South Korea. On Saturday (October 31), the Bears registered a very convincing 13-2 victory in Game Five against defending champion Samsung Lions to win the Korean Series, 4-1. With this, the Bears won their first championship-title in 14 years and fourth in club-history. The team also won the title in 1982 and 1995. In 1982, the Bears were the first-ever champion of the then inaugural professional season of the Korean Baseball Organization.

Doosan Bears dethroned Samsung Lions, which had won the championship in the past four seasons. The Lions missed three of their strongest pitchers. They were left of the roster, as they were alleged to have been involved in illegal gambling overseas.

The Lions opened the Korean Series on Monday (October 26) at home with a 9-8 win. The next day, the Bears won Game Two with a 6-1 score to even the Series. On Thursday, the Bears took a 2-1 lead by winning 5-1, then added its next victory on Friday, 4-3.
