De Glaskoning Twins vs. DSS
Since Saturday, DSS Head Coach Lennart Stut had altered his batting order. American Melvin Perdue had been the lead-off hitter in the first seven games, but now had moved to the fourth spot in the batting order, as one of the changes.

DSS got a chance to open the score in the bottom of the first inning, but instead, a runner was eliminated at the plate, which was followed by a bench-clearing and an ejection. Veteran righthander Elton Koeiman started for Twins, but wasn't as effective as in his previous starts of the season. He walked lead-off hitter Ryan Miner, who moved into scoring position via a sacrifice bunt by Menno Lenting. Hereafter, Koen Halderman lined out to first baseman Jeffrey Arends. DSS got another baserunner when Melvin Perdue walked. Hereafter, Mitchel Koot lined a single into leftfield. Miner, who had no chance of scoring, was waved home and was caught up by the ball. That ended up in time in the glove of catcher Stijn Janssens, who waited for Miner to tag him out and end the inning. Moments later, there was contact between Miner and Janssens and that triggered a bench-clearing, as some players of Twins immediately ran onto the field. There was some pushing, there was some yelling, but everyone returned to their dug-outs shortly thereafter. A 5-minute conference between the umpiring crew followed and that resulted in Miner being ejected for violation of the collission-rule at the plate. By the way, Janssens also was ejected, but that happened in the last inning of the game.

In the top of the third inning, Nick Peels tripled with one out for Twins, but was left behind.

Twins then opened the score with a 4-run rally in the fourth at bat off of starter Tim Halderman, who by the way pitched to his brother Koen Halderman. Adrian Anthony led off with a walk, then Berry van Donselaar singled with one out. Both scored when Bob van der Meer followed with a triple. Van der Meer scored on a single by Anthony Vrolijk, who then scored himself when Stijn Janssens doubled.

In the bottom of the fourth, DSS got another scoring opportunity. Melvin Perdue and Mitchel Koot singled, but then the first was forced out at third base on a grounder by Joffrey Heus. The bases were loaded when Sven van der Sanden walked, which led to some reactions from pitcher Elton Koeiman. The veteran avoided giving up runs, as the inning ended with a double play.

Twins added an unearned run in the sixth inning. Nick Peels, who had reached on a fielder's choice, then scored on a double by Jarreau Martina with two outs.

Another run followed in the seventh. With one out, Jeffrey Arends singled. Rik Geestman then took over the pitching from Halderman, but walked Berry van Donselaar. After the two runners had moved on a double-steal, the lefthander gave up a runscoring single to Bob van der Meer, that made it a 6-0 score. A double play ended the inning.

Twins lifted the lead to 8-0 in the eighth inning off of new pitcher Max Ploegstra by scoring two more unearned runs. Nick Peels (single) then scored when an error followed a force play-grounder by Shurty Tremus. The latter scored the next run on a double by Adrian Anthony.

In the bottom of the eighth inning, off of new pitcher Matthew Latta, DSS got close to a run. With one out, Melvin Perdue and Mitchel Koot walked. Perdue moved to third base on a force play-grounder, but was left behind.

In the top of the ninth inning, Kevin Geestman (who had come on in the previous at bat), struckout the side. The at bat ended with a called strikeout for Stijn Janssens, who didn't like that, reacted and was ejected by Home Plate Umpire Peter Brink.

DSS also was retired in order in its ninth by Brendan Schoemaker, which ended the game.
