UVV vs. Curaçao Neptunus
UVV initially opened the score in the second inning off of starter Diegomar Markwell.
The lefthander made a throwing error on a comeback-grounder by Berend Ruben, who was able to move to second base and later scored on a 2-out single by Sergino Martis.
Timo van Ancum started for UVV and threw two scoreless innings.
In the next five innings, Neptunus scored a run each time.
Kevin van Veen took over for Van Ancum in the third inning.
Lead-off hitter Shaldimar Daantji reached on an error, but was forced out on a grounder by Dwayne Kemp, who later scored the tying run on a single by Benjamin Dille.
In the fourth inning, Neptunus took a 2-1 lead on back-to-back doubles with one out by Dashenko Ricardo and Urving Kemp.
Neptunus added its next run in the fifth at bat.
Dwayne Kemp then led off with a single, moved on a walk by Benjamin Dille and advanced on a grounder.
He then scored when Gianison Boekhoudt grounded out.
In the sixth, off of new pitcher Gilian van Lith, Dashenko Ricardo led off for Neptunus with a double.
With two outs and Ricardo on third base, Shaldimar Daantji reached on an infield-hit.
Ricardo took off and should have been eliminated at the plate, but scored when a throwing error followed.
Neptunus lifted the lead to 5-1 in the seventh inning.
This run also was unearned, as Dwayne Kemp led off with a walk and later scored on an error.
UVV scored its second run in the eighth inning off of Kevin Kelly.
Julian Rip led off with a walk and stole second base.
He moved to third base on a grounder by Tijmen Takke, then scored on a grounder by Sven Jongejans.
UVV simply made too many defensive errors today, resulting in three unearned runs.
Neptunus-starter Diegomar Markwell struckout five batters in five innings and earned his fourth win of the exhibition season.
