Game 2 - Alcmaria Victrix vs. Theo Meijer Quick Amersfoort
The second day of the tournament began early with the match-up between Alcmaria Victrix and Quick Amersfoort. And it was a memorable game, as it was the first one in several years in which Bas Nooij played beardless. The catcher, who transfered to Quick Amersfoort from big leaguer L&D Amsterdam Pirates in the off-season, shaved off his famous beard earlier in the week.
And that of course was breaking news when he announced that!

Quick Amersfoort outhit Alcmaria Victrix 9-4, but trailed 4-3 after four innings, then won thanks to two runs in the fifth. Three of Quick's basehits were hit by Jos de Jong, who has pitched several years in the big league and then never got an at bat. Since playing for Quick, he also plays at first base and is used as designated hitter (which he was in this game).

Quick opened the score in the first inning when Bas de Jong singled with two outs and scored on a single by his brother Jos de Jong.

The lead was lifted to 2-0 in the next inning of the attractive game. Aaron Isenia then led off with an infield-hit and later scored on a sacrifice fly by Kevin Windster.

Alcmaria then scored its first run in the bottom of the second off of starter Mees Cremer. With two outs and the bases loaded, Marco Hogeland walked, but the Alkmaar-squad then left three runners behind when next batter Tim Verbrugge fouled out.

Quick made it a 3-1 score in the third inning. Bas Nooij then walked with one out, moved on a single by Jos de Jong and scored on a following double by Remian Denis.

Alcmaria narrowed the deficit to 3-2 by scoring another run in its third when former big leaguer Michael Pluijmers homered with one out. Pluijmers played in the big league for HCAW in 2010-2011 and Pioniers in 2012-2013. He also played for the Netherlands National Baseball Team during a tournament in Florida in 2011.

Alcmaria then took a 4-3 lead in the fourth inning. With one out, Dennis Blom and Marco Hogeland walked. That led to a pitching change and Jos de Jong took over. A force play-grounder followed, but then Rob van de Kamer delivered a 2-run double that made it a 4-3 score.

The lead was shortlived, as Quick answered with two runs in the top of the fifth off of new pitcher Wouter Knop, who took over from starter (and former big leaguer) Mika de Lincel. With one out, Bas Nooij doubled and Jos de Jong singled. With two outs, both scored on a double by Aaron Isenia.

Now leading 5-4, De Jong retired the side in the bottom of the fifth to close the game.

Game 3 - Zürich Barracudas vs. De Glaskoning Twins
Belgian pitchers Cedric Desmedt and Ben Van Nuffel threw a combined No-Hitter for De Glaskoning Twins in their game against Swiss champion Zürich Barracudas. The two struckout four batters.

Twins scored its first run in the first inning. Lead-off hitter Nick Peels reached on an error, stole second and third base, then scored on a grounder by Shurty Tremus.

In the bottom of the first, Barracudas got the bases loaded. Desmedt walked three batters, but all were left behind.

The Oosterhout-squad then rallied for four runs in the third inning. First, Bob van der Meer led off with a single. Hereafter, Nick Peels drove the ball into rightfield, but was dropped there. However, it led to an out, as Van der Meer, who was halfway, was forced out on second base. And with that, Peels did not reach on an error, but on a fielder's choice. Jarreau Martina then singled, followed by a double-steal. A grounder by Shurty Tremus produced a run, then the bases got loaded when Swiss starter Chris Michals hit both Jeffrey Arends and Dennis De Quint with a pitch. A walk for Chris Ge led to the next run and a 2-run single by Stijn Janssens lifted the lead to 5-0.

Twins added its next run in the fourth off of reliever Tyler Wagner when Bram Grooten walked and later scored on a sacrifice fly by Peels.

Another 4-run rally followed in the fifth. Lead-off hitter Shurty Tremus was hit by a pitch, was awarded second base on a balk, then scored on a single by Jeffrey Arends. Later in the at bat, Chris Ge added an RBI-single, followed by a 2-run double by Stijn Janssens that lifted the lead to 10-0. It also ended the game, as the tournament-rule time had expired.

Game 4 - Theo Meijer Quick Amersfoort vs. DSS
DSS was leading 2-0 after the top of the third inning, but failed to hold onto it, as Theo Meijer Quick Amersfoort then scored a run in each of its next three at bat to win 3-2.

DSS stranded two runners in scoring position in the first two innings. Melvin Perdue led off the game with a single, then stole second base and moved on a single by Koen Halderman, but the two stranded. In the second inning, Joffrey Heus walked with two outs, then Mitchel Dautzenberg walked, but also were left behind.

DSS then opened the score in the third inning off of starter and former big leaguer Bob Klaarenbeek (ex-HCAW). The bases got loaded when Koen Halderman and Sven van der Sanden singled and Ruben Prins walked. With one out, Seb Visser hit a 2-run single, but the inning then ended with a double play.

DSS-starter Rik Geestman saw Quick leave two runners in the second inning, but then gave up a run in the third. With one out, Kevin Windster walked, then Jules Cremer doubled and a sacrifice fly by Wesley Bernardus led to the run.

Quick came alongside in the fourth off of reliever Max Ploegstra. With one out, Jos de Jong singled, moved on a passed ball and a single by Remian Denis, then scored when Shairon Nicolaas followed with another single.

In the top of the fifth, lead-off hitter Koen Halderman reached second base for DSS on an error, but stranded as the next three batters were eliminated.

Quick then decided the game moments later off of Kevin Geestman. With one out, Wesley Bernardus walked and Bas de Jong singled. Bernardus then advanced when De Jong was forced out on a grounder by Bas Nooij and scored on a following single by Jos de Jong. And so, Bernardus scored the winning run and also became the winning pitcher, as he had come on in relief in the top of the fifth.

Game 5 - De Glaskoning Twins vs. Tex Town Tigers
De Glaskoning Twins outhit Tex Town Tigers 8-3, but nevertheless was left empty-handed, as it failed to hold onto a 2-0 lead and lot 4-3.

Twins scored twice in the second inning. Mick Molenaar led off with a single, then Chris Ge reached on an error. Bob van der Meer followed with another single and Twins took an 1-0 lead. Later, Twins got two more runners in scoring position, but a double play ended the at bat.

In the remainder of the game, Twins left seven more runners behind on the bases.
