Neptunus struggles, but wins in Hoofddorp

HOOFDDORP (Neth.) -
After suffering a convincing 11-3 loss on Saturday, Curaçao Neptunus again struggled on Sunday (July 3), but in the end won 9-6 against Vaessen Pioniers.
The teams close their series on Tuesday-evening with a make-up game after the opener rained out on both Thursday and Friday.
Initially, Neptunus appeared to take a comfortable lead,scoring five runs in the top of the first inning.
But Pioniers answered with four runs in its first at bat and came alongside in the fifth.
Neptunus re-took the lead in the sixth, then added two runs in the seventh, but never could built up a big distance.
Pioniers outhit Neptunus 12-11.
Max Draijer had three hits for Pioniers, while Shurman Marlin batted in three.
Christian Diaz was 3-for-3 for Neptunus, which saw Steven Wharwood batting in three runs.
Orlando Yntema was less dominating than in his previous appearances.
The righthander gave up nine hits in seven innings, but remained unbeaten and recorded his ninth victory of the season.
