Kinheim completes Play-Off quartet
Nederlands
DORDRECHT (Neth.) -
Kinheim won 8-4 at De Glaskoning Twins on Thursday-evening (August 4) to become the fourth and final team to qualify for the Play-Offs.
With the win, Kinheim opened its final 3-game series of the regular season.
The Haarlem-squad needed one win to complete the Play-Off quartet.
HCAW also was still in contention for the final spot.
While HCAW was leading in its game against DSS, the game between Twins and Kinheim remained scoreless in the first three innings.
Kinheim then opened the score in the fourth inning, but decided the game from the sixth inning on.
In the final four at bats, Kinheim scored seven runs.
Back-to-back doubles by Kevin Moesquit and Dudley Leonora lifted the lead to 3-0 in the sixth off of starter Brendan Schoemaker, who struckout 12 batters.
Two runs were added in the seventh on a 2-run triple by Julio Hernandez.
A walk and groundout increased the lead to 7-0 in the top of the eighth, but then Twins suddenly narrowed the deficit to 7-4 moments later.
Twins scored all runs off of David Bergman, who is the scheduled starting pitcher for coming Sunday's final regular season-game.
A single by Sander Paap accounted for an insurance run for Kinheim in the eighth.
Nick Veltkamp started for Kinheim instead of the announced Luis Figuera Roman and had a good outing, giving up only four hits in seven innings.
With the win, Kinheim will finish in fourth place in the Overall Standings and will play its first two games at home in the Play-Offs against league-leader Curaçao Neptunus.
With the loss, Twins will finish in sixth place and will play its first two games in the Play-Downs at home against either Pickles UVV or DSS.
