UVV vs. De Glaskoning Twins
The game remained scoreless for six innings, as starting pitchers Timo Ancum (UVV) and Justin Erasmus (Twins) got fine support from their defense.
Twins then broke the scoreless tie with a 4-run rally in the seventh inning and went on win with a convincing 10-2 score.
Twins appeared off to a good start when Nick Peels led off the game with a triple off of starter Timo van Ancum.
However, a fielder's choice-grounder by Jarreau Martina then ended in a double play.
Van Ancum then retired the side in the second inning and was supported with another double play in the third.
After having retired the side again in the fourth, he saw Twins leave two runners in the fifth.
UVV then turned its third double play in the sixth inning.
With that, Twins had reached base only six times in the first six innings, including once on third base.
But that would change from the seventh inning on.
UVV also got a chance to open the score in its first at bat.
With one out, Jamie Verheyleweghen singled and moved on a wild pitch.
He then tried to advance on a passed ball, but was eliminated.
A walk for Tony Enos followed, but he was left behind.
In the next innings, UVV reached base more than Twins, but was unable to score off of Justin Erasmus.
In the second, the Australian righthander gave up a lead-off single to Mike Bazuin, then an one-out double to Berend Ruben.
Bazuin was then eliminated at the plate trying to score on a grounder by Sven Jongejans.

In the fourth, UVV got the bases loaded off of Erasmus.
First, Omar Williams was hit by a pitch, then Mike Bazuin singled and Sergino Martis also was hit by a pitch.
Twins' first baseman Jeffrey Arends then made an unassisted double play on a line drive by Berend Ruben and a strikeout ended the at bat.
Erasmus retired the side in the fifth and sixth inning.
In next week's series against L&D Amsterdam Pirates, Erasmus will make his last start of the season for Twins.
He will then transfer to Germany, where he will start to plat for Munich-Haar Disciples.
Erasmus will be replaced on the roster by Japanese righthander Keiji Uezono.
The former pro will arrive on May 12, then makes his first start for Amsterdam Baseball in the Euro League Baseball on either May 15 or 16.
A week later, he will take his turn in the rotation of Twins, replacing Erasmus on the roster of Twins.
By the way, Erasmus' new team also plays in the ELB.
Twins struck with four runs in the top of the seventh inning.
The bases got loaded when Adrian Anthony led off with a walk, then (with one out) Berry van Donselaar singled and Shurty Tremus also walked.
An error on a grounder by Anthony Vrolijk then produced the first run and led to a pitching change.
Gilian van Lith took over, but was greeted with a baseclearing, 3-run double by Mick Molenaar that made it 4-0.
Twins added three runs in the eighth inning.
Anthony again walked and Jeffrey Arends singled, then Berry Donselaar delivered a runscoring single.
Hereafter, José Moreno took over the UVV-pitching, but he gave up a 2-run single to Shurty Tremus.
Three more runs were scored in the ninth off of new pitcher Rick Heijman to lift the lead to 10-0.
Nick Peels led off with a walk and Jarreau Martina singled, then the bases got loaded when Jeffrey Arends singled with one out.
All three scored when Berry van Donselaar followed with a double.
Shurty Tremus then singled, but the inning ended when first baseman Jamie Verheyleweghen made an unassisted double play on a line drive by Anthony Vrolijk.
And that was UVV's fourth double play in the game.
In the bottom of the eighth, Matthew Latta relieved Erasmus and was supported with a double play, then Brendan Schoemaker pitched the ninth inning for Twins.
He walked Omar Williams, then gave up an one-out homerun to Sergino Martis, which gave UVV its two runs in this game.
A walk for Berend Ruben followed, but Twins then ended the game with its third double play (and seventh overall) in the game.
