UVV ends long losing streak with 10th inning win

VLEUTEN (Neth.) -
Pickles UVV ended a 17-game losing streak on Tuesday-evening (July 5) by winning 8-7 in ten innings in a make-up game against De Glaskoning Twins, which had won its last five games.
The win was the first for UVV in the second half of the season and its first since May 15 when it won 7-4 against Kinheim.
The game was originally scheduled for last Sunday, but then was cancelled due to weather and field-conditions.
In tonight's game, Twins failed to hold onto a lead three times.
Trailing 1-0, Twins scored three runs in the fifth inning, but UVV came alongside in the sixth.
Both teams then scored twice in the ninth inning.
In the tenth, Twins again scored two runs to take the lead for the third time in the game.
In the bottom of the ninth, UVV answered with three runs to win its first game after a month-and-a-half.
Twins scored four runs in the ninth and tenth inning combined.
However, UVV scored five in those at bats, which were all unearned, as the Twins-defense committed four errors.
Twins outhit UVV 13-9, including three by Nick Peels.
Lefthander Gilian van Lith threw all ten innings for UVV, needing 128 pitches to complete the game.
