The California-born Perdue is traveling to the Netherlands from Australia.
There, he played this past winter-season in Perth for Carine Cats, where he was mostly used as lead-off hitter and in centerfield.
The 31-year old outfielder is no stranger to Dutch baseball.
In 2011-2014, he already played four seasons in the First Division (the third highest league) for Vos Cardinals in the southern city of Oss.
There, Perdue was a well-respected player, who was known for his hitting, but also his involvement in youth baseball.
At Cardinals, he coordinated many youth-activities, like clinics.
In 2013, he was the Head Coach of the Junior Baseball-team of the club and in 2014, he also was an instructor for Bixie Baseball, one of the Dutch Baseball Academies.
Last year, Perdue played for Athletics Attnang-Puchheim in the Austrian Baseball League.
There, he batted .450 (27-for-60) with three homeruns, scored 18 runs and batted in 15, while stealing eight bases, leading the team in all these categories.
He was selected for the Austrian All Star Game.
Also last year, Perdue was invited to play for the team of International Stars, which is compiled from several players of European leagues.
With this team, he participated in the annual Prague Baseball Week in Czech capital Prague.
After completion of the event, he was awarded the Best Hitter Trophy, as he led the tournament with a .667 batting average.
Melvin Perdue played four years (2005-2009) for the team of Saint Anselm College in Division II and was its best hitter in 2009.
In following years, he was a successful player for several teams, who play in Summer Leagues, Independent Leagues or as Travel Team.
In 2011, he played a minor part in the baseball-movie Moneyball, which starred Brad Pitt, Jonah Hill and Philip Seymour Hoffman.
The film was nominated for six Academy Awards (Oscars), including Best Motion Picture, and four Golden Globes.
