Kinheim vs. De Glaskoning Twins
For six innings, it appeared that tonight's game would go Kinheim's way.
Tom Stuifbergen started for the Haarlem-squad and threw five strong innings.
The righthander struckout six batters and gave up only two basehits.
He retired the first eleven batters in a row, then gave up a 2-out triple to Shurty Tremus in the fourth inning, but he stranded.
In the fifth, Stuifbergen gave up a 2-out single to Stijn Janssens, but closed with a strikeout.
In the meantime, Kinheim took an 1-0 lead in the second inning off of Australian righthander Justin Erasmus.
With two outs, Dexter de Weert doubled and scored on a following single by Oliver Severino van der Wijst.
The latter was one of three rookies playing in the Kinheim-squad tonight.
Van der Wijst played at third, while Chiel Berkhout was the rightfielder Devano Pieter was one of the three additional batters in the 12-man batting order.
Thomas Bos, who also is still a rookie, played at second base.
In the third inning, Jasper Keijzer led off with a single, but Erasmus then retired the next three batters, including two strikeouts.
Kinheim got two baserunners in the fourth at bat when Sander Paap reached on an error with one out and Bryan Engelhardt walked with two outs, but they were left behind.
In the top of the sixth inning, pinch-hitter Jarreau Martina doubled with two outs for Twins off of new pitcher Nick Veltkamp, but he then ended the inning with a strikeout.

In its sixth inning, Kinheim added a run off of new pitcher Ben Van Nuffel.
The Belgian righthander gave up a lead-off single to Niels van Weert, which was followed by an outfield-error.
Two outs followed, but he then scored on a single by Jochem Koedijk.
Kinheim got another runner when Sander Paap walked, but Kinheim again left two runners behind.
Twins then turned the game around in the top of the seventh inning by scoring three runs.
Shurty Tremus led off with a double and advanced on a wild pitch, then scored on a following single by Jeffrey Arends.
Veltkamp then walked Berry van Donselaar, which was followed by a double-steal.
With one out, Bart Janssen delivered a runscoring single that made it a 2-2 score.
Moments later, Van Donselaar scored the go-ahead run on a wild pitch.
Twins added two more runs in the eighth inning.
Dennis De Quint led off with a walk, but then Jarreau Martina grounded into a double play.
Hereafter, Bart Hanegraaff walked, then scored all the way from first base when a outfield-error followed on a single by Shurty Tremus, who himself ended up on third base.
Former Kinheim-player Jeffrey Arends then connected for a runscoring single to lift the lead to 5-2.
Twins got the bases loaded when Berry van Donselaar singled and Chris Ge walked, but three runners were then left behind.
In the bottom of the eighth inning, Brendan Schoemaker took over the Twins-pitching with two outs and a runner on first base.
A flyout ended the inning, then Schoemaker retired the side in the ninth to earn a save.
