Pickles UVV vs. De Glaskoning Twins
UVV started well and opened the score immediately in the first at bat off of Belgian starter Cedric Desmedt.
He walked lead-off hitter Julian Rip, then gave up a single to Jamie Verheyleweghen, which led to runners on first and third base.
Rip then scored on a force play-grounder by Tim Veraghtert, who himself advanced on a single by Omar Williams and scored on a single by Mike Bazuin.
UVV added three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Berend Ruben led off with a single and moved on a wild pitch.
With one out, Sven Jongejans walked.
After Ruben had stolen third base, he scored on a wild pitch.
Moments later, Jongejans scored on a single by Dennis Ribbens.
The latter went on to score the third run in the at bat when an error followed a single by Jamie Verheyleweghen.
In the sixth inning, UVV scored two more runs without hitting a basehit.
Dennis Ribbens led off with a walk and Tim Veraghtert walked with two outs.
They respectively sored on a wild putch and an error to lift the lead to 7-0.
UVV-starter Jurjen van Zijl pitched seven solid innings.
In the second inning, he got two quick outs, but then walked Anthony Vrolijk and Bart Janssen.
A following single by Shurty Tremus appeared to bring in the first run, but Vrolijk was eliminated at the plate.
In the third inning, Nick Peels led off for Twins with a double and Jarreau Martina followed with a bunt-single, but three outs followed.
Van Zijl retired the side in the next two innings, then was supported with a double play in the sixth.
In the seventh inning, Twins again got its first two batters on base, but three flyouts ended the at bat.
Trailing 7-0, Twins scored its first in the eighth inning off of new pitcher Tony Enos.
Jarreau Martina led off with a single and advanced to third base on a throwing error from the outfield.
He scored when Jeffrey Arends followed with a single.
With one out, Twins got the bases loaded when Bart Hanegraaff walked and Bob van der Meer singled, but hereafter, the UVV-defense turned a double play to end the inning.
A 2-out double by Jeffrey Arends then gave Twins two more runs in the ninth, but that was to be it.
