Nederlands
AMSTERDAM (Neth.) -
L&D Amsterdam Pirates led 6-3 after seven innings on Thursday-evening (July 7) against De Glaskoning Twins and went on to win 13-3 in the opener of their 3-game series, which will be the final one before the international break.
Twins took a 3-0 lead in the first inning off of rookie Jimmy Osinga.
Amsterdam narrowed the deficit to 3-2, then scored four runs in the seventh inning.
In the bottom of the eighth, Amsterdam did some more scoring and it became clear that this was to be the final at bat of the game due to the 10:30 PM curfew-rule.
However, the scoring developed into a 7-run rally and with that, the game not ended via the curfew-rule but via the mercy-rule instead, as Amsterdam reached a 10-run difference with no outs!
Pirates collected 12 basehits, including three by Gilmer Lampe, who also batted in three runs.
Rashid Gerard had four RBI's tonight.
Mick Molenaar accounted for three of the nine hits registered by Twins.
