Neptunus avoids sweep against Amsterdam Pirates

ROTTERDAM (Neth.) -
League-leader Curaçao Neptunus avoided a 3-game sweep against L&D Amsterdam Pirates by winning 8-4 on Sunday (August 7).
Neptunus lost the first two games with a 5-3 and 6-2 score respectively.
Today, Neptunus failed to hold onto a lead three times and it took until the eighth inning for the Rotterdam-squad to decide the game.
In that at bat, Neptunus rallied for five runs to make it 8-3 in its favor.
Neptunus collected 13 basehits, including three by former professional Randolph Oduber.
Neptunus was unable to take distance off of rookie starter Hidde Brocken, who gave up six hits in the six innings he pitched.
Neptunus opened the score in the first inning, but Pirates came alongside in the second.
In the fifth, Neptunus re-took the lead, only to see that Amsterdam tied the score again.
In the sixth, Neptunus took its third lead, but again failed to hold onto it, as Amsterdam made it a 3-3 score in the seventh.
Neptunus then took its fourth lead in the eighth, scoring five runs.
Neptunus rallied on six hits off of two pitchers.
