HCAW vs. UVV
UVV was productive in its first five innings, getting eleven baserunners off of HCAW-starter Kaj Timmermans, but was limited to only three runs.
When Timmermans left the mound after five innings, the score was 3-3.
In the first inning, Jordan Illis singled for UVV with one out, then Tim Veraghtert's force play-grounder ended in an error, but both stranded.
In the second at bat, Dennis Ribbens and Tijmen Takke both singled with one out, but the HCAW-defense then turned a double play on a line drive by Norbert Jongerius.
UVV then opened the score in the third inning.
Julian Rip led off with a triple and scored on a following double by Jordan Illis.
With one out, Illis scored the next run on a single by Mike Bazuin.
In the top of the fourth inning, Dennis Ribbens led off with a single.
With two outs, he tried to advance to third base when Julian Rip singled, but was eliminated there on a throw by leftfielder Kevin Nieveld.
Jurjen van Zijl started for UVV and threw three strong innings.
The righthander retired the first eight batters, then walked Jelle Blaauw with two outs in the third, but closed with a strikeout after he had stolen second base.

However, in the fourth inning, Van Zijl gave up three runs.
Lead-off hitter Boyd Tuhumury reached on an error, then the bases got loaded when Roelie Henrique and Rossini Frolijk both singled.
The lead runner then scored on a sacrifice fly by Vince Rooi, which brought Henrique to third base.
After the ball was caught, an overthrow to third base followed, which enabled Henrique to score the tying run.
Frolijk, who was on his way to second base, was awarded third base on the overthrow from the outfield, as the ball ended up in the dug-out.
Moments later, Frolijk scored the go-ahead run on a single by Kevin Weijgertse.
UVV came alongside immediately in the top of the fifth inning.
Timmermans hit Jordan Illis with a pitch.
Illis then stole second base, advanced on a flyout and scored on a grounder by Mike Bazuin.
Ian Delemarre took over the pitching for HCAW in the sixth inning and retired the side.
He saw his teammates re-take the lead in the bottom of the sixth off of new pitcher Thijs Steenwijk.
He got the bases loaded when Levine Gabriëls led off with a single, followed by a single from Boyd Tuhumury and a walk for Roelie Henrique.
WIth the bases loaded, Gabriëls scored on a wild pitch, which also moved the other two runners.
However, when catcher Tim Veraghtert couldn't find the ball immediately, Tuhumury throught he had a chance of also reaching third base.
But there, he was eliminated on a throw from Veraghtert to Steenwijk.
Shortly hereafer, Henrique moved to third base on another wild pitch, but then was left behind.

UVV erased HCAW's second lead in the seventh inning.
With one out, Jordan Illis reached base for the fourth time when he was hit by a pitch for the second time.
He was then picked off first base, but during the following rundown, an error followed, enabling him to reach second base safely.
Illis then advanced to third base on a grounder, then (again) scored the tying run on a single by Mike Bazuin.
In the bottom of the eighth inning, HCAW took the lead for the third time.
This time off of Gillian van Lith, who had come on in the previous at bat and then had retired the side, including two strikeouts.
In the eighth, with one out, Gianni Frolijk singled and Levine Gabriëls walked.
Frolijk then moved to third when Boyd Tuhumury flied out and scored on a following single by Roelie Henrique, which also led to the third out.
Gabriëls advanced on the single, but then overran second base and was eliminated there on a throw by leftfielder Sergino Martis to end the inning.
In the top of the ninth, UVV again was able to tie the score for the third time when Julian Rip led off with a homerun.
Rip, the son of former big league-player Onno Rip, was 3-for-5 and only missed the double to hit-for-the-cyle.
In the bottom of the ninth, HCAW decided the game by scoring another run.
José Moreno became the new pitcher for UVV and he gave up an one-out single to veteran Vince Rooi.
He moved on a wild pitch, then scored on a 2-out double by Julian Goins.
This normally would have been a walk-off, double, but the game continued, as it was agreed to play nine complete innings.
Kevin Nieveld followed with a single, but then Moreno ended the game with a strikeout.
And with that, Ian Delemarre earned his fourth victory of the exhibition-season.
