HCAW vs. Kinheim
After being retired in order in the first inning, Kinheim opened the score with two unearned runs in the second at bat off of starter Ian Delemarre when the HCAW-defense made three errors.
Lead-off hitter Dudley Leonora reached on a throwing error, then another error followed on a force play-grounder by Victor Draijer.
This led to runners on first and third base.
Draijer was then successfully forced out on a grounder by Niels van Weert, but that also brought in Leonora.
With two outs, Van Weert scored the next run on a double by Oliver van de Wijst Severino.
In the third, Jasper Keijzer led off for Kinheim with a walk, but Julio Hernandez then grounded into a double play.
Tom Stuifbergen started for Kinheim.
The righthander saw HCAW get into scoring position right away in the first at bat, but held the Bussum-squad scoreless.
He walked lead-off hitter Boy Tuhumury, who then advanced on a grounder, then moved to third base on a wild pitch with two outs.
A walk for Vince Rooi followed, but Stuifbergen then closed with a strikeout.
Stuifbergen then retired the side in the second and third inning.
Hereafter, the long waiting began, as the game was interrupted for a sun-delay and it was a long one this time.
After having played only 46 minutes, the game resumed again after a delay of one hour and 16 minutes!
This makes it the longest sun-delay in Bussum in more than twenty years.
Last year, there was a similar game.
On May 28, only 41 minutes were played in HCAW's home game against DSS when the game was stopped, coincidentally also after three complete innings.
A year ago, the game was interrupted for one hour and 15 minutes!
Last year, there were three more games in Bussum that were interrupted for a sun-delay.
There were two of just over half an hour (33 and 37 minutes), but there was also another delay of more than an hour (1:09).
This last one occured almost exactly a year ago, on June 11.
Tonight's sun-delay was the first in Bussum this year.
After the game resumed, two new pitchers entered the game, Giovanni Tensen for HCAW and Nick Veltkamp for Kinheim.
Tensen retired the side in the fourth and fifth inning, but then gave up three runs in the sixth.
With one out, Julio Hernandez and Kevin Moesquit both singled, then Dudley Leonora homered to make it a 5-0 score.
That marked the end for Tensen, who was replaced by Oscar Meuris.
Facing new pitcher Tim Niekerk in the seventh, Kinheim added a run.
With two outs, Jochem Koedijk doubled and moved to third base on a following outfield-error.
He then scored on a wild pitch.
Veltkamp saw HCAW get into scoring position twice in the four innings he pitched, but gave up no runs.
He walked lead-off hitter Rossini Frolijk in the fourth, then gave up a 2-out single to Kevin Weijgertse.
A grounder ended the at bat.
In the fifth, the lefthander walked Raoell Kortstam with one out, but he was caught stealing to end the inning.
Veltkamp then retired the side in the sixth (two strikeouts), but gave up an one-out double to Weijgertse in the seventh.
But he stranded on second base, as Veltkamp retired the next two batters.
That also ended the game, as it had reached the 10:30 PM curfew-time.
According to the league-rules, no new inning can be started after that time in evening games.
