Kinheim wins big; UVV eliminated for Play-Offs
Nederlands
VLEUTEN (Neth.) -
Kinheim won with a big 16-3 score on Saturday-afternoon (July 9) against Pickles UVV, which became the first team to be officially eliminated for the Play-Offs.
UVV already was eliminated for the first three spots in the second half of the regular season, but today also was eliminated for fourth place.
The teams that finish in first and second place in both the first and second half of the season qualify for the Play-Offs.
When the same two teams that qualify in the first half are finishing again in the top two positions or in the top-3, the team that finish in third and/or fourth place will complete the Play-Off quartet.
Since the fourth place now has become out of reach for UVV, it again will play in the Play-Downs after completion of the regular season.
The team that finishes in last place in the Play-Downs will face the champion of the second highest league ('Overgangsklasse') in a best-of-five series to decide which of the two will play in the big league next season.
Kinheim collected 16 basehits today, including three by Victor Draijer, who also batted in three runs and scored three.
Dudley Leonora also batted in three runs.
All nine starting players for Kinheim hit at least one basehit.
Eight of them also scored at least once, the only player not to score was Bryan Engelhardt.
Leading 8-3, Kinheim rallied for eight runs in the top of the ninth inning off of reliever Norbert Jongerius to make it a big final score.
