 No award for Schiedam baseball-team

The baseball-team of SV&HV Schiedam was one of three teams nominated for Sports Team of the Municipality of Schiedam, but on Saturday-evening (January 9), they didn't win the award.
At the Hagazaal of the City Office, Schiedam-alderman Nathalie Gouweleeuw handed out the trophies to the best local athletes on Saturday-evening.
The nominations, three for each category, were done by a professional jury, which was compiled of journalists Mischa Keemink (Waterweg Sport), Gerard Verver (Nieuwe Stadsblad), Karel Leeuwangh and Patrick de Boer (both LookTV) and Koos Gouka, who is the former chairman of cricket-club Excelsior '20.
Votes could be casted online by local sports fans.
These votes combined with the judgement of the jury resulted in the winners.
The award for Sports Team of the Year went to Kethel Spaland (soccer), which won the champion-title in the Saturday-competion of the Third Division C, resulting in promotion.
Also nominated besides the Schiedam baseball-team was SVDPW (soccer).
Schiedam was nominated for finishing in second place in the First Division in 2015 its first season in this league after promoting the year before.
For the third consecutive year, Nouchka Fontijn (boxing) was crowned as Athlete of the Year (male and female were combined in this category).
Luke Verburg (mountainbike) won the award for Talent of the Year.
A new stimulation-award was introduced this year.
That was handed out to the G-team of HBSS (soccer), which was the champion in their league.
