Vaessen Pioniers vs. DSS
Pioniers led 2-0, but rallied for five runs in the fourth inning when the DSS-defense committed several errors.
DSS scored three runs in the eighth inning, but ended up short, 8-3.
DSS-starter Mike Groen threw the first four innings, but encountered some problems.
After having thrown two scoreless innings, Groen gave up two runs in the third at bat.
He then walked Stephen Henson and hit next batter Brennan Nijhof with a pitch.
The two moved on a sacrifice bunt by Zerzinho Croes.
With two outs, Austin Weymouth delivered a 2-run single and that was all Pioniers needed this afternoon, as its own pitching held DSS scoreless for seven innings.
Pioniers then scored five runs in the fourth inning.
Again, Henson led off with a walk and again, Nijhof was hit by a pitch.
Hereafter, some steal-situations plus errors followed, resulting in runs.
A single by former DSS-player Mark Smit also produced a run, but this wasn't a good defensive inning for the Haarlem-squad, as Pioniers increased its lead to 7-0.

He also walked Henson, who then scored on a double by Nijhof, who was hit three times by a pitch today.
The first two pitchers for Pioniers dominated and held DSS hitless for seven innings.
American lefthander Chris Pfau threw the first four innings, then Nick Keur threw the next three.
They issued four walks combined, but didn't gave up a basehit and also held DSS scoreless.
That changed in the eighth inning when both the No-Hitter and Shutout ended.
Rookie-pitcher Koen Blom took over and walked Joffrey Heus, Mitchel Dautzenberg and Melvin Perdue.
He then gave up a runscoring single to Tim Halderman and also walked Mitchell Koot.
That gave DSS two runs and kept the bases loaded.
Jonah Van Bremmelen was brought in as reliever, but he also walked Ruben Prins, which accounted for the third DSS-run.
Hereafter, he was supported with a double play and didn't gave up more runs.
Pioniers was held scoreless from the sixth inning on by relievers Gijs Timmer, Mark van Deursen, Max Ploegstra and Kevin Geestman.
