Amsterdam Pirates wins big in Oosterhout

OOSTERHOUT (Neth.) -
After being shutout 6-0 on Saturday, L&D Amsterdam Pirates recovered on Sunday (July 10) and went on to register a comfortable 13-4 victory at De Glaskoning Twins.
After completion of this series, the season will be interrupted for the Baseball Week Haarlem, which opens next Friday.
When the season resumes, Amsterdam Pirates will be one of only two teams that are left over to finish in first place of the Overall Standings, the other being Curaçao Neptunus.
The first placed team qualifies for participation in next years European Champions Cup.
The team that captures the Dutch championship-title in the Holland Series also will qualify.
Amsterdam Pirates trailed 1-0 after four innings, then rallied for four runs in the fifth to take charge of the game.
Amsterdam then added three runs in the sixth, seventh and ninth at bat.
Pirates collected 16 basehits, including three by Michael Duursma, Linoy Croes and Rashid Gerard.
The last two also scored three runs.
Croes tripled twice.
Twins had only six basehits off of three pitchers, including homeruns by Jeffrey Arends and Mick Molenaar.
