HCAW ends losing streak with big win against Pioniers

HOOFDDORP (Neth.) -
HCAW ended its 8-game losing streak on Sunday (July 10) by winning with a big 17-9 score against Vaessen Pioniers to avoid a 3-game sweep.
After completion of this series, the season will be interrupted for the Baseball Week Haarlem, which opens next Friday.
HCAW trailed 5-2 after two innings and 5-4 after four.
The Bussum-squad then rallied for six runs in the top of the fifth inning and added four in the seventh to turn the game its way and take a comfortable lead.
In the sixth, HCAW scored six runs, highlighted by a 3-run triple by Kevin Weijgertse.
In the 4-run seventh inning, two runs were batted in by Vince Rooi.
HCAW added three more runs in the ninth off of debuting pitcher Lars Broersen with two runs being scored on a double by Rossini Frolijk.
Both teams collected 18 basehits.
Vince Rooi headed the HCAW-offense, hitting 6-for-6, scored four runs and batted in five.
He only missed the triple to hit-for-the-cycle.
Quintin De Cuba had four basehits for Pioniers and scored three runs.
