Silver Slugger Award for Xander Bogaerts

Dutch professional player Xander Bogaerts has won his second consecutive Silver Slugger Award for the Best Hitting Short Stop in the American League.
The Silver Slugger Award is handed annually to the top hitters at each position in both the American and National League.
This years winners were announced on Thursday (November 10).

This season, his fourth (third full) season in the Major League, Bogaerts batted.294 (192-for-652) in 157 games.
Bogaerts, who was born on Aruba, played in the most games ever in his career, 157, which is one more than last year.
The short stop of Boston Red Sox also reached several other career-highs by scoring 115 runs (his previous was 84 last year), 89 runs batted in (previous 81 last year), 21 homeruns (previous 12 in 2014), 58 walks (previous 39 in 2014), 13 stolen bases (previous 10 last year), .356 on-base percentage (previous .355 last year) and .446 slugging average (previous .421 last year).
His 192 basehits were four less than his career-high of 196 he accomplished last season when he won his first Silver Slugger Award.
Earlier this year, the 24-year old Bogaerts played in his first All Star Game.
In 2013, he won the World Series with Boston.
In 2011, Bogaerts played for the Netherlands National Team when it captured the World Championship-title in Panama.
With the Orange-squad, Bogaerts reached the Semi-Final of the 2013 World Baseball Classic.
David Ortiz and Miguel Cabrera both won their seventh Silver Slugger Award.
