De Glaskoning Twins vs. L&D Amsterdam Pirates
Cedric Desmedt started for Twins this afternoon and retired the side in the top of the first inning.
Desmedt was one of three Belgians to pitch today for Twins.
He was supported with three (unearned) runs in the bottom of the third.
Kevin Heijstek was the starter for the Amsterdam-squad and he got two quick outs.
However, next batters Dennis De Quint and Jeffrey Arends then both reached on an error and Berry van Donselaar followed with a 3-run homerun to give the home team an early lead.
Desmedt got two baserunners in the second inning when he hit Remco Draijer with a pitch and walked Kenny Berkenbosch, but they were both left behind.
Amsterdam then scored four runs in the third inning.
With one out, Koen Nooij walked and that brought in new pitcher Ben Van Nuffel.
He was greeted with a single by Nick Urbanus, which was followed by an outfield-error.
With runners on second and third base, a wild pitch accounted for the first Amsterdam-run.
Hereafter, three unearned runs followed.
First, Urbanus scored on a grounder by Michael Duursma, then Gilmer Lampe and Danny Rombley both walked.
They both scored when a fly by Draijer into the outfield was missed.
And that gave Amsterdam a 4-3 lead.

In the bottom of the third, Dennis Burgersdijk took over the Amsterdam-pitching and gave up the tying run.
Jarreau Martina led off with a single for Twins, which last week signed a sponsor-agreement with De Glaskoning.
Next batter Bart Hanegraaff walked.
With one out and after a double steal, the bases got loaded when Jeffrey Arends also walked, then a single by Berry van Donselaar made it 4-4.
This was the fourth RBI for Van Donselaar, who had played in the big league before for Sparta-Feyenoord and The Hawks, before joining Twins after the 2014 season.
But with the bases loaded, a double play ended the at bat.
In the top of the fourth inning, Pirates struck with five runs on four hits to decide the game.
With one out, Patrick Bok and Koen Nooij walked, followed with an RBI-double by Nick Urbanus.
That led to the next pitching change.
Matthew Latta, another Belgian pitcher of the Twins-roster, took over and began with a runscoring wild pitch.
Michael Duursma followed with a runscoring single.
The bases then got loaded when Gilmer Lampe and Remco Draijer (with two outs) both singled, then another wild pitch accounted for the next run.
The bases were loaded again when Kenny Berkenbosch received his third walk in the game, then a walk for pinch-hitter Rashid Gerard brought in the fifth run in the inning, lifting the lead to 9-4.
Hereafter, three runners stranded when a flyout ended the at bat.

Amsterdam Pirates added its tenth run in the fifth inning.
With one out, pinch-hitter Linoy Croes walked, moved on a passed ball, then scored when next batter Nick Urbanus reached on an error.
The bases got loaded when Michael Duursma and Gilmer Lampe walked and that brought in the fourth pitcher for Twins.
Righthander Brendan Schoemaker took over, threw one pitched and turned an 1-2-3- double play on a comeback-grounder by Danny Rombley.
Now that Schoemaker entered the game, we can make something clear.
It has been reported, also by this site, that Schoemaker supposedly was an American pitcher, mainly because his English-sounding name.
However, Schoemaker is born and raised in Rotterdam!
Schoemaker threw the final three innings for Twins, gave up a single in the seventh, struckout three batters and was supported with another double play in the seventh inning.
The four Twins-pitchers also walked 13 batters today.
Trailing 9-4 in the bottom of the fourth inning, Twins got two baserunners with one out when Mick Molenaar singled and Rikkert Kempen reached on an error.
Hereafter, Dennis Burgersdijk struckout the next two batters.
Burgersdijk then retired the side in the fifth, adding one strikeout.
Robin Schel took over in the sixth and also retired the side, including two strikeouts.
Daan Hendrix threw the final two innings for the Amsterdam-squad.
He also struckout two batters.
He began with a strikeout in the eighth, then gave up singles to Bart Hanegraaff and Dennis De Quint, but hereafter, a double play ended the inning and the game.
