DSS vs. HCAW
HCAW opened the score in the first inning, scoring one run off of starter Mike Groen.
He walked lead-off hitter Roelie Henrique, who then moved to third base on a single by Boyd Tuhumury and scored on a sacrifice fly by Vince Rooi.
DSS appeared to do something back immediately in its first at bat off of Jim Ploeger.
The lefthander gave up a lead-off single to Ryan Miner, but he was caught stealing moments later.
With two outs, Melvin Perdue singled, but was left behind.
HCAW then added two runs in the second inning.
Kevin Weijgertse and Julian Goins began with singles, then the first reached third base when a pick-off ended in an error.
He then scored on a sacrifice fly by Gianni Frolijk.
Hereafter, Goins stole second base, advanced on an error and scored on a single by Roelie Henrique.
With that, HCAW led 3-0.
However, the Bussum-squad was held scoreless in the next six innings and saw DSS come alongside.
DSS was retired in order in the second inning (two strikeouts) by Ploeger, then HCAW turned a double play in the third.
But DSS then scored its first run in the fourth.
Melvin Perdue led off with a single and moved on a wild pitch and a grounder.
With two outs, he scored on a single by Tino van Erk.
Mitchel Dautzenberg followed with another single, but Ploeger then closed with a strikeout.
Both teams were retired in order in the fifth, then both stranded a runner in the sixth.
In the top of the seventh, with one out, Rik Geestman took over for Mike Groen and retired the next two batters.
DSS then appeared to have something in the making in the bottom of the seventh.
Mitchel Dautzenberg led off with a single and moved on a grounder.
Rookie Tristan Kim then also singled, which led to runners on second and third base.
But they were both left behind.

In the top of the eighth, Vince Rooi led off with a walk, but the DSS-defense then turned a double play.
Hereafter, Kevin Nieveld also walked and Kevin Weijgertse singled.
A double-steal brought the runners to second and third base, but a grounder ended the inning.
With that, HCAW failed to take some more distance.
Instead, it saw DSS come alongside in the bottom of the eighth.
With HCAW leading 3-1, Tim Niekerk took over the pitching, but ran into problems, as the defense committed two costly errors.
Niekerk walked Melvin Perdue, who then moved on a wild pitch.
Next batter Mitchel Koot then reached on an error, which brought Perdue to third base.
Koot also got into scoring position moments later by stealing second base.
Hereafter, another error followed on a grounder by Sven van de Sanden.
On his grounder, Perdue took off to score, but a throwing error towards the plate led to a run and runners on first and third base.
After Van de Sanden had stolen second base, Tino van Erk delivered a runscoring single to bring in the tying run.
With the score at 3-3, runners on first and third base and still no outs, Oscar Meuris was brought in to take over for Niekerk.
He saw Van Erk advance on a sacrifice bunt by Mitchel Dautzenberg, but DSS left its runners on second and third base, as a flyout and groundout ended the at bat.
But with the score at 3-3, it has become a new ball game.
However, it didn't take long to change that again, as HCAW reacted with three runs in the top of the ninth.
DSS-reliever Rik Geestman walked lead-off hitter Jelle Blaauw, who then stole second base and was awarded third base on a balk.
Hereafter, Gianni Frolijk also walked.
The latter advanced to second base on a grounder by Roelie Henrique.
Next batter Boyd Tuhumury then also grounded out.
With two outs and first base open, it was decided to give powerhitter Vince Rooi an intentional walk to set up a force play.
But that backfired, as Rossini Frolijk then received a normal walk, that brought in Blaauw to give HCAW a renewed lead.
Kevin Nieveld followed with a 2-run single that made it 6-3 in favor of HCAW.
In the bottom of the ninth, Meuris retired the side and closed the game with two strikeouts.
