Neptunus registers another 10-run difference win against Kinheim
Nederlands

HAARLEM (Neth.) - Curaçao Neptunus also won its second game in the Play-Offs against Kinheim with a 10-run difference, registering a 13-3 win on Saturday (August 13). The Rotterdam-squad won 12-0 on Friday. Both games ended in seven innings via the mercy-rule.

Neptunus collected 14 basehits today, including a homerun by veteran Raily Legito, who played at third base again. Dashenko Ricardo batted in three runs.

Leading 1-0, Neptunus more or less decided the game with a 5-run rally in the second at bat. Two scoreless innings followed, but the team then added three more runs in the fifth and four more in the seventh to create a 10-run difference situation.

Kinheim vs. Curaçao Neptunus
Just as it did in the opening game, Neptunus again opened the score today in the first inning. On Friday, Neptunus scored three runs in the opening at bat, today only one.

With one out, Randolph Oduber singled and moved on a passed ball. Raily Legito then walked, but Kinheim-starter Scott Ronnenbergh then struckout Gianison Boekhoudt. But with two outs, the lefthander gave up a runscoring double to former teammate Dashenko Ricardo, who played for Kinheim in the past two seasons.

Neptunus then rallied for five runs in the second inning when Ronnenbergh gave up six basehits. With one out, Daniel Fernandes and Shaldimar Daantji singled. Hereafter, Dwayne Kemp and Randolph Oduber both delivered runscoring singles to make it a 3-0 score. Kemp and Oduber then advanced on a passed ball and with two outs, the bases got loaded when Gianison Boekhoudt walked. Neptunus then took more distance, as Dashenko Ricardo connected for a 2-run single and next batter Christian Diaz (the ninth batter in the inning) added an RBI-single to lift he lead to a comfortable 6-0.

In the bottom of the second inning, Kinheim was able to get two runs back off of Orlando Yntema, who went the distance for Neptunus. Dudley Leonora led off with with a single and Niels van Weert then walked. Hereafter, Dexter de Weert delivered a runscoring single and when an outfield-error followed, it enabled Van Weert to also score. With a runner on second base and no outs, Yntema retired the next three batters, including two with a strikeout.

In the top of the third inning, Scott Ronnenbergh was relieved by Martijn Schoonderwoerd, who made his debut in the main-squad of Kinheim. Schoonderwoerd had a fine debut, as he retired the first three batters he faced. All three flied out. He also had a good fourth inning. With one out, the righthander walked Boekhoudt, but then retired the next two batters and closed with a strikeout.

Kinheim also was held scoreless in these at bats. The team left a runner on third base in the third inning, then stranded two runners in the fourth.

Neptunus took more distance in the fifth inning, scoring three runs. Benjamin Dille led off with a walk and Daniel Fernandes singled. Shaldimar Daantji followed with a runscoring double, then the next run was scored on a wild pitch with one out. The third run was then scored on a sacrifice fly by Randolph Oduber. Hereafter, Raily Legito walked, but Schoonderwoerd then closed with another strikeout.

Neptunus turned a double play in the bottom of the fifth, then saw Kinheim leave another runner on third base in the sixth. Neptunus then struck with a 4-run rally in the top of the seventh to reach a 10-run difference. With one out, Shaldimar Daantji walked and Dwayne Kemp doubled. A grounder by Urving Kemp produced the first run, then Raily Legito homered off the lighttower in centerfield to account for the next two runs. Gianison Boekhoudt followed with a double and scored on a single by Shadrach Meulens, who had entered the game defensively in the bottom of the sixth inning as the new catcher.

With Neptunus now leading 13-2, Kinheim was unable to avoid another 10-run difference loss. The team managed to add one more run however in its seventh at bat. With two outs, Kevin Moesquit walked and moved on a pinch-hit single by Victor Draijer. He then scored on a double by Dudley Leonora. That was to be it for Kinheim, who now faces elimination for one of the top-two spots in the Play-Offs on Sunday. The two best team of the 9-game series qualify for the all-deciding Holland Series.
