The game remained scoreless for nine innings, then Amsterdam Pirates struck with five runs in the top of the tenth, the first in which the tie-break rule came into effect.

Erasmus threw nine innings and gave up only three basehits, while striking out four batters.

With one out, he saw Jarreau Martina reach on a bunt-single, but he was caught stealing moments later after a pick-off.
Bart Hanegraaff then walked and stole second base, but De Blok closed with a strikeout.
De Blok then retired the side (two strikeouts) in the ninth and so, the game went into extra innings.
While Justin Erasmus had pitched a fine game and had thrown 'only' 101 pitches, he didn't return to the mound in the tenth inning.
Brendan Schoemaker took over and ran into problems and gave up five runs.
First, tie-break runners Danny Rombley and Linoy Croes advanced on a passed ball.
Hereafter, Patrick Bok grounded to second base, but that resulted in a throwing error towards home, which not only enabled Rombley, but also Croes to score.
Bok moved to second base, then advanced on a sacrifice bunt by Rashid Gerard and scored on a single by Jesse Aussems to make it a 3-0 score.
Nick Urbanus and Michael Duursma followed with singles.
The hit by Duursma was followed by an outfield-error, which led to the next run.
