Orlando Yntema went the distance for Neptunus and gave up seven basehits to become the first 5-game winner of the season.

Curaçao Neptunus vs. DSS
Neptunus-pitcher Orlando Yntema threw his second consecutive 7-inning complete game today. A week ago, he threw a No-Hitter against Vaessen Pioniers. Today, he gave up seven basehits to DSS, but only two runs, which both were scored in the seventh inning.

After DSS had stranded two runners in the top of the first inning, Neptunus scored its first run in the bottom of the at bat off of Mike Groen. With one out, Benjamin Dille singled, moved on a grounder and scored on a following single by Gianison Boekhoudt.

From the third inning on, Neptunus scored eleven runs. They added two unearned runs in the third at bat. Lead-off hitter Christian Diaz reached on an error, moved on a grounder and scored on a single by Dashenko Ricardo. Moments later, Ricardo stole second base and advanced on a throwing error, then scored on a following grounder by Gianison Boekhoudt. Hereafter, Rien Vernooij singled, stole second base and advanced on a wild pitch, but was left behind. Vernooij was the short stop today for Neptunus today, as Dwayne Kemp was not with the team due to stomach pains.

Two more runs were scored by the home team in the fourth inning. Daniel Fernandes and Shaldimar Daantji led off with walks and went on to score later in the at bat. Fernandes advanced on a flyout, then scored on a single by Christian Diaz. Daantji and Diaz then executed a double-steal and a sacrifice fly by Benjamin Dille made it a 5-0 score.

The scoring continued with three unearned runs in the bottom of the fifth inning. Gianison Boekhoudt reached on an error, then Rien Vernooij doubled. The two scored on following sacrifice flies by Steven Wharwood and Daniel Fernandes (in foul territory). Shaldimar Daantji then doubled and scored on a single by Urving Kemp.

Neptunus reached the 10-run difference in the bottom of the sixth by scoring two more runs off of reliever Mark van Deursen. Benjamin Dille led off with a single and scored on a triple by Dashenko Ricardo. Hereafter, the Rotterdam-squad got the bases loaded when Gianison Boekhoudt and Rien Vernooij both walked. The tenth run was then scored when next batter Steven Wharwood grounded into a double play.

Neptunus failed to hold into the 10-run difference initially when DSS scored twice in the top of the seventh inning. Ruben Prins led off with a walk, then Tino van Erk singled. This was the first game this season that Van Erk started, as he is still recovering from a hamstring-injury. Today, he was the designated hitter for DSS and was 1-for-3. Last season, Van Erk was the team's leading hitter with a .280 batting average and also led in basehits (40) and runs batted in (11). The bases got loaded when Sven van der Sanden also singled. DSS scored its first run when Seb Visser added another single. The next run was scored when Mitchel Dautzenberg grounded into a double play.

However, Neptunus immediately made it a 10-run difference in the bottom of the seventh. With one out, Urving Kemp tripled and scored on a single by Christian Diaz. With two outs, Diaz scored on a walk-off double by Dashenko Ricardo to make it 12-2 and end the game.
