 Neptunus collects 14 runs and hits against DSS

 HAARLEM (Neth.) -
Curaçao Neptunus scored 14 runs and collected 14 basehits on Sunday (May 15) to register a comfortable, 7-inning, mercy-rule, 14-1 victory against DSS.
On Thursday, the 3-game series began with a surprise 4-3 win for DSS, but in the next two games, Neptunus won big against the Haarlem-squad.
Gianison Boekhoudt and Rien Vernooij both had three basehits for Neptunus, while Dashenko Ricardo homered.
Neptunus rallied for four runs in the second inning and five in the fifth at bat.
DSS registered only two basehits off of three pitchers, including Loek van Mil, who made his first appearance of the season for Neptunus since returning from the USA over a week ago.
There, his professional career ended when he was released on April 25 by the Minnesota Twins, for whom he had started the season in Triple-A.
Today, Van Mil pitched the seventh inning for Neptunus and struckout two batters.

DSS vs. Curaçao Neptunus
Both teams were retired in order in the first inning, but then Neptunus struck with four runs in the second at bat off of starter Tim Halderman.
Gianison Boekhoudt led off with a double and Rien Vernooij singled.
With one out, both scored when Daniel Fernandes singled and an outfield-error followed.
Moments later, Fernandes scored the next run on a triple by Shaldimar Daantji, who went on to score the fourth run on a sacrifice fly by Urving Kemp.
Neptunus added three runs in the third inning.
Benjamin Dille led off with a single, then scored when Dashenko Ricardo followed with a homerun.
After today's game, Ricardo led the league in hitting with a .483 batting average.
He currently has a Triple Crown-lead, as he also has batted in the most runs (22) and hit the most homeruns (2).
Ricardo also leads the league in basehits (28).
After Ricardo's homerun, Rien Vernooij doubled with one out and scored on a single by Steven Wharwood to make it a 7-0 score.<>
A 5-run rally followed in the fifth inning.
Gianison Boekhoudt led off with a single and moved on a wild pitch, then Rien Vernooij walked.
Both scored on a following triple by Steven Wharwood, which led to a pitching change.
Rik Geestman took over for Halderman, but saw Wharwood score the next run on a grounder by Daniel Fernandes.
With two outs, Urving Kemp walked and Christian Diaz doubled, then both scored on a single by Benjamin Dille to make it 12-0 score.
In the sixth, Rien Vernooij led off with a single, moved to second and third base on two consecutive wild pitches, then scored on a grounder by Shaldimar Daantji.
Neptunus-starter Kenny Van Den Branden retired the first eight batters in a row.
With two outs in the third, he gave up a single to Mitchel Dautzenberg and walked Ryan Miner which was the lone moment that DSS got into scoring position off of the Belgian righthander.
Van Den Branden also retired the side in the fifth.
Trailing 13-0, DSS scored its lone run in the bottom of the sixth off of Steven van Groningen, who then took over for Van Den Branden.
Van Groningen walked both Ryan Miner and Menno Lenting.
The latter was forced out on a grounder by Koen Halderman, but when a throwing error followed trying to complete a double play, Miner scored.
A successful double play then ended the at bat.
Neptunus scored its last run in the seventh off of new pitcher Gijs Timmer.
With two outs, Dashenko Ricardo walked and went on to score on a single by Gianison Boekhoudt.
