HCAW vs. Vaessen Pioniers
On a chilly afternoon in Bussum, Jim Ploeger threw the first complete game for HCAW in the season.
The last 9-inning complete game thrown by a HCAW-pitcher was registered on July 12 last year.
On that date, Kaj Timmermans went the distance and gave up three hits when HCAW also won 2-0 against Mampaey The Hawks.
Like today, that game also was played in Bussum.
The HCAW-offense supported the lefthander with two runs early in the game, scoring in the first and third inning.
HCAW opened the score in the bottom of the first inning off of lefthander Nick Keur.
With one out, Boyd Tuhumury walked.
He advanced when a pick-off ended in an error, then moved when Vince Rooi flied out and scored on a single by Kevin Weijgertse.
The lead was doubled in the third inning.
Roelie Henrique led off with a single, then moved on a following single by Boyd Tuhumury.
The latter was then forced out when Vince Rooi grounded into a double play.
Henrique advanced to third base on the double play-grounder, then scored when Kevin Weijgertse delivered another runscoring single.

HCAW got a chance to add more runs in the fifth and sixth inning.
With two outs in the fifth, Boyd Tuhumury reached second base on an error, then moved to third base on wild pitch, but stranded.
In the sixth, HCAW got the bases loaded.
With one out, Julian Goins singled and Kevin Nieveld walked.
Hereafter, former HCAW-pitcher Maickel Rietel took over for Nick Keur.
With two outs, he walked pinch-hitter Rossini Frolijk, but the three runners were left behind when a grounder ended the at bat.
Pioniers got into scoring position only three times off of Jim Ploeger, who threw 113 pitches.
In the first inning, the lefthander walked lead-off hitter Zerzinho Croes, but then a double play followed.
In the second, Ploeger gave up a 2-out double to Glenn Bakker, but hereafter, he closed with a strikeout.
The double was to be the lone basehit Ploeger would give up.
In the fifth, Ploeger walked Glenn Bakker, who then again got into scoring position when he advanced on a grounder by Shurman Marlin, but he stranded again.
Hereafter, Ploeger retired the side in the sixth and eighth inning, while HCAW turned another double play in the seventh at bat.
In the ninth, Pioniers got its last runner in scoring position.
With one out, Mervin Gario reached on an error, moved on a wild pitch and became the lone Pioniers-runner to reach third base on a grounder.
But he stranded there when another grounder ended the game.
