L&D Amsterdam Pirates vs. DSS
After Amsterdam-starter Dennis Burgersdijk had retired the side in the top of the first inning, his teammates scored three runs with two outs in the home half of the opening at bat.
With one out, Michael Duursma walked and got into scoring position when a pick-off attempt ended in an error.
He then moved to third base on a flyout, which was followed by a walk for Remco Draijer.
After the latter had stolen second base, Kenny Berkenbosch delivered a 2-run single to open the score.
Berkenbosch also stole second, advanced when a throwing error followed, then scored on a single by Linoy Croes.
In the second inning, Burgersdijk walked Tino van Erk with one out and hit next batter Seb Visser with a pitch, but they stranded.
The righthander then gave up the first run to DSS in the third at bat.
With one out, Joffrey Heus reached on a bunt-single, then Koen Halderman walked with two outs.
Ryan Miner followed with a runscoring single, but DSS would strand two runners.
Amsterdam got the run back immediately in its third at bat off of starter Donny Breek, whose father Jerry has been a former pitcher of Pirates.
With one out, Kenny Berkenbosch tripled, then scored on a grounder by next batter Linoy Croes to make it a 4-1 score.
Amsterdam added two more runs in the sixth inning.
Linoy Croes led off with a walk and stole second base, then moved to third base on a grounder by Rashid Gerard.
Hereafter, Patrick Bok also walked, then both runners scored when next batter Jesse Aussems tripled.
DSS left a runner on first base in the fourth inning and another one on second base in the fifth inning off of Burgersdijk.
In the sixth, the righthander was relieved by Daan Hendrix, who retired the side.
In the seventh, he saw DSS get one run back.
Mitchel Dautzenberg led off with a single, advanced on an error and scored on a 2-out single by Menno Lenting.
In the bottom of the seventh, Gijs Timmer took over for Donny Breek.
He gave up a lead-off single to Danny Rombley, who moved on a grounder and a flyout, but stranded on third base.
In the top of the eighth, Tom de Blok became the third pitcher for Amsterdam.
With one out, he gave up a single to Tino van Erk, who then stole second base.
That was to be the final action of the game, as it was interrupted by heavy rain.
Moments later, the game was halted definitively.
